Effortlessly kind service
We got there about an hour before they closed and the service was still so phenomenal. Our waitress was kind, polite and generous, didnt rush us at all. We had veggie sambusas, the vegetable combo for two (with beets!!! Get the beets) and the spiced tea. Everything was delicious. It was a very endearing experience, the restaurant feels like an extension of whatever kind of love they have in their kitchens at home. Highly recommend!

The tastes of Ethiopian food is not part of my usual catalog, but I always try new foods. My previous experience from a different restaurant was negative. This experience was much more positive. I ordered the meat and vegetable sambusas. Sambusa is a different word for samosa. The beef variety was filled with beef, and was well seasoned. The veggie variety contained lentils and could have used more seasoning, but it still tasted good. I also ordered beef awaze tibs, which is like stirfry and a stew had a baby, a meat mixed with vegetables like onions, tomatoes, and peppers. The menu called it “spicy,” but it was not the American definition of spicy. It had flavor, but no heat. While the beef was flavorful, it was a little chewy, but not enough to turn me off. The tibs dish came with a cabbage dish, tikel gomen, and misir wot, or a spicy lentil. Both pleasant tasting. I would try food from here again. Please note this was a delivery order.

Both the food and service were good; average for Ethiopian restaurants. Not as spicy or flavorful as others, but good nonetheless.

Although I am vegetarian but not vegan, I do like a lot of world cuisines which are naturally vegan. My son and I split the vegetarian sambusas and then the vegetarian platter for one, but there was plenty of food for the both of us. Service was good and they serve wine and beer in addition to soft drinks. Highly recommend!

The place was quiet when we got there and the service was fantastic. Very kind and attentive. The menu was comprehensive and the food was great. It got busier the later it got, but still very pleasant.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Neighborhood Spot!
One of the things I love most about Harlem is the access to delicious food. Although this place isn't much to look at it is certainly delicious. It's not fancy at all and it's rather small but if your looking for yummy Ethiopian food this is your spot. The portions are very large, much larger than other Ethiopian restaurants in Harlem and the prices are fabulous. I went with my family and we ordered two Abyssinia Vegetarian platters for 2 to share and we could not finish it between the four of us but we certainly stuffed ourselves trying. The restaurant is very small so plan accordingly because there was only one table available when we went on a Friday evening. The service is very fast though so hopefully there wouldn't be much of a wait if all of the tables were full. I love Ethiopian food so this is going to be a place I frequent on the regular. I can't wait to return...the food was absolutely delicious.

It was a sunny spring sunday morning and after our traditional gospel mass at the Salem church (try and you will not regret) we have found this typical ethiopian restaurant not far from the subway entrance. The local is very simple and should be renovated, in particular the restroom. The food instead is very good but it is very spicy. We don't know if it is possible to use fork and cutter to eat but because we didn't request them and we used our hands as suggested. It is strange but however a new experience to do.
