The appetizers are pretty good, and the ambiance is great
The appetizers are pretty good, and the ambiance is great no matter time of year. However, even if you have reservations they will ALWAYS make you wait for your table. We've gotten there right at open when the tables are all empty with a reservation and they still made us wait 10 min to make it seem busier than it was. Not the greatest staff

Outstanding!! I always heard this was place was famous for their atmosphere and food but didn't think it would exceed my expectations. Would 100% recommend.
Be the first to ReplyHard to argue with all the great reviews.
All our dishes were really good - even ones that may not have sounded amazing from an onset. We had half a dozen dishes to choose from, the waitress was on top of things, the drinks were good, and we really loved the ambiance. It was a truly perfect spot to meet out some friends and to enjoy a nice evening with them.

My second time here and won't be my last! Everything from the ambiance to the service to the food and drinks made for an excellent dining experience. Went with someone who hadn't been before and she absolutely loved it. We enjoyed the short rib hummus, grilled halloumi, brussels sprouts (not pictured), crab cakes, and chicken kefta kebabs. Save room for dessert- we had the chocolate orange cremeux and it did not disappoint.

I've been wanting to come here for so long, especially since I loved Ema. Everything was so good - the portions were very reasonable for the prices. The whipped feta was definitely my favorite, since the bread that it comes with was amazing. I also really enjoyed the King Salmon and have not had a lot of dishes like the ones I had here. The inside was so pretty and we sat at the first come first serve bar! The service was so nice and understanding - they gave us a lot of recommendations. I will be back soon!

The entrance to this place was hard to find since it was upstairs of this building at the corner of the street. Once I was up, the place was decorated amazingly with both outdoor and indoor spaces. Went there on a Sunday and it was packed! The vibes were immaculate. The food was so yummy too. Their cocktails were out of this world. If you are finding a cute little place for brunch with some of your friends and willing to pay a little more, this is it!

Wow wow wow I am joining the aba hype train because this was one of the best meals ever. I get why it is so hard to get reservations here. The vibes are amazing (inside and outside). We got a 7:15 Friday reservation on the covered patio (march). Definitely prettier patio vibes in the summer but still so lovely! The service was awesome - water refilled consistently, and our server gave us recommendations of the most popular dishes from different categories, and each dish came out so promptly. We started with the short rib hummus and the muhammara and I will be DREAMING about this hummus for days. The bread was warm and they brought plenty of it, and it had so much flavor. Also loved the muhammara, it was a fun balance of spicy and sweet, almost like a hint of salsa meets shakshuka but also with a hint of sweetness from the pomegranate and crunch from the walnuts. Definitely fun to try! The espresso martini was also delicious. My friends got other cocktails and we all really liked the blackberry G&T. We also ordered the salmon kebab and the Brussel sprouts. The salmon was light and fresh with lemon and the Brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy. I liked how they were flavorful but not too heavy or saucy. When I tell you the portions were way more generous than I was expecting!! We were so full and had quite a bit of the dips leftover. I greatly appreciate when restaurants actually give you your moneys worth in portions and aba sure does! For 3 of us, 2 dips, one kebab entree, and the Brussel sprouts was definitely the right amount to be full with a few leftovers! The star of the show was definitely the hummus (worth the hype). I have heard wonders about their desserts so will have to come back to try them! They also have matchbooks here (if you are a collector like me) but they were sadly out of them this time, so I'll have to gladly come back for that too :)
Be the first to ReplyAba is a beautiful Mediterranean restaurant in the Fulton
Aba is a beautiful Mediterranean restaurant in the Fulton Market area that is a must-try while in Chicago. Love the atmosphere in here: are classy nature vibes a thing? That's what I'm getting here. I definitely suggest reservations: we came in at 4:15 on a weeknight and by 5 the place was Our waitress was lovely and so helpful from the get go. For drinks, I enjoyed the Blackberry Chili G&T (not spicy but does have an earthy kick to it) and absolutely loved their espresso martini-well done! We tried a variety of small plates: -Our Favorite Dips (happy hour): a great sampler of their top selling dips. -Japanese Sweet Potato Hummus: a unique dish, it's hard to describe but imagine a sweet potato in...hummus form? delicious. -Brussels Sprouts: my favorite dish of the evening-some of the best brussels I've had, loved the honey sauce. -Truffle Baked Orzo: another one of my top dishes of the night, and I'm so happy they seasoned and salted this well. -Falafel: a nicely-done falafel and the sauces they're plated with are tasty. -Crispy Potatoes: the only dish of the night I really didn't enjoy-they were just bland, heavy and I should've sent them back. i also really appreciated how they take allergies seriously here: i have a shellfish allergy and they took careful precautions and even put little allergy toothpick "signs" in each of our dishes!
Be the first to Replywow, just wow.
First of all, Aba is a really gorgeous restaurant and feels very Fulton Market/cozy and luxurious. I came here for dinner with 2 of my friends on a Friday with a 7:15 reservation. our server was rlly nice and took the time to go through the menu with us and gave us suggestions based on what's popular. Aba is mezze style and you should definitely share. we started off with the Muhammara & Crispy Short Rib Hummus and the portions were much bigger than we expected! we ended up taking a little bit of each of the dips to go. they bring out plenty of bread for the dips, so no worries about that. the short rib hummus was delicious & rich and we all decided it was our favorite part of the meal overall at the end. the muhammara is interesting - very tomato-y with a kick. it tastes like the base of shakshuka (yummy, just a little curious). then we got brussels sprouts and the salmon kebab. the brussels sprouts were pretty simple but cooked well & helped balance out our dish. the salmon was also good! i liked the little green sauce that came with it (chimichurri?) and the rice was exactly what i wanted - a little oily but light. not the main attraction but was still good. for drinks i got the blackberry green chile g&t which was delicious and had a little kick to it. i would definitely get it again and if you're a fan of g&ts it would highly recommend. overall, i would say the short rib hummus is a must try! i'll definitely be back at Aba to try more of the kebabs and other dishes! would highly recommend dining here for Mediterranean food lovers + anyone looking for a high quality meal. we all left absolutely stuffed and happy :)

Took us a second to find this place, but when we headed up the elevator to the second floor, we came out to the gorgeous (almost restoration hardware cafe vibe) space!! We snagged a reservation last minute and thank goodness because it was packed. Our waiter walked us through the menu thoroughly and we began staggering our orders. Our table of 4 shared everything so we had 8 total dishes. The whipped feta and short rib hummus were AMAZING. Both had such strong flavors and came with warm, fresh pita that was seasoned and so good. The tuna carpaccio, two chicken dishes, steak frites, and truffled orzo came next and every single thing I tried, I loved. Every dish was pieced together so well and the flavors and seasonings and spices were the perfect unique blend. Amazing restaurant - 10/10 will be back!
Be the first to ReplySo amazing in every aspect.
The ambiance was great, the service outstanding, and the food trumped it all. Get the short rib hummus. You'll thank me.

The food was so amazing! Extremely well seasoned and well balanced. Every bite tasted better and better and each dish we ordered tasted different but paired so well with each other. It's easy to taste why reservations fill so quickly. Our server was stellar and despite having what seemed like way too many tables for one server she was extremely attentive and we didn't feel like her service was lacking at all. Our waters were consistently filled and our plates were brought out in a timely matter. The mocktails were meh but overall we had a great meal. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing with lots of green and natural lighting. Despite a full restaurant the noise level wasn't too high and you didn't have to strain to hear what others were saying.

Overated and expensive! If you like arachera you will like this place because everything tastes like that seasoning. Also, if you like Little Caesar's breadsticks you will love this place because their bread tastes like it, as well as their hummus like a pizza paste. Their potatoes tastes like Friday's potato skins though a bit better. Seems like all leftovers from a bunch of other restaurants! The drink was very alcohol taste heavy yet not very strongThis is another restaurant where things are based on atmosphere, which is very good. Nice rooftop setting, great bathrooms with steakhouse type paper towels at least in the men's bathroom. Our server was very good and interactive as well. But overall, I don't like Little Caesars much or Friday's and two negatives don't equal a positive this time. Okay experience if you like paying for it, but the food overall is bad and wack! I'm surprised it's rated so high

One of my favorite restaurants in the city! The ambiance is 10/10, love the greenery and decor, even beginning by the elevator entrance downstairs. The food is fantastic - my favorite dish is the muhammara; and I can't get enough of the bread. Instagram with additional review: _tastethejoy_

Wow! Easily one of the best meals I've had since moving to Chicago last year. Everything about this place was excellent. The food was amazing. Everything from the short rib hummus and homemade pita to the crispy potatoes with scallion crema to the rice and kebabs was perfectly executed. The shrimp with black garlic was one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten in this city. Also, I must say that the prices for this quality of food and preparation felt very reasonable. Our server, Julissa, was phenomenal. She was super friendly and clearly shared our passion for excellent food. She knew the menu inside and out and was very helpful with recommendations for us to try. The space is beautiful. While they do have heaters and blankets if you sit on the patio, it can get cold if you're along the perimeter on a cold night, so dress accordingly. I loved this dining experience and can't wait to come back. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and ambience.
Service has always been impeccable. Hard to find a reservation so book ahead of time. Their sister restaurant Ema is great too, but Aba is better.
Be the first to ReplyTLDR: great ambiance, attentive service, flavorful food
TLDR: great ambiance, attentive service, flavorful food adventure all reflected in their price Parking- its Fulton market, so crowded It's a beautiful getaway meal experience. The outdoor and indoor dining area creates a relaxed environment to enjoy a taste adventure. It's classy but not stuffy so come as you are. Had two cocktails, the short rib hummus, (complimentary) whipped feta, and charred eggplant to start. From their brunch menu we had the lamb and beef kefta with eggs. Everything was flavorful with different garnishes that drew out contrasts. Our bill for 2 was just about $100 for the whole meal. We received a complimentary because we had to wait a bit for our reservation. Their staff are committed to their guest's experience.
Be the first to ReplyLove this place, definitely worth a visit.
The vegetarian options were great and always love the ambience. If you're planning a visit make sure to book a reservation well in advance .

Aba is amazing ! Top 3 fav restaurant in Chicago! My favs are the short rib hummus, grilled chicken kebab, broccoli & shrimp scampi ! All are incredible. The pitas are best ever. Ambience is spot on. Drinks are tasty. Our waitress was Lexi and she was super sweet and would love to have her again! We will be back again soon! Hopefully next week haha

The staff was all nice. It was a little chilly so they had blankets at the tables. Food was good and all shareable style.

I came here during restaurant week with my friends so we tried a bit of everything from their 3 course! Their spreads & bread were amazing! I can literally eat it all day! The ambiance and service was plus plus plus especially their outdoor rooftop!

A great experience! The ambiance in the main room during the day is great, even when it's winter. They were also gluten free friendly, giving us an entire gluten free menu when requested. The appetizers were delicious (smoky garlic hummus, Brussels sprouts, and falafel). For the main course, we had the lamb kebab. While it was still really good, it left a bit to be desired compared to other similar restaurants in Chicago. Overall a solid experience and would recommend to others.

Flavorful food, lively ambiance, shoddy service! The space is enclosed on the terrace with heaters so it's beautiful to sit out. The plates come out thoughtfully laid out but the service is way sub par for a restaurant that puts in so much thought to it's food. Came for a brunch, items didn't come to the table and we ended up saying we have waited too long and need to leave. For the items that did show up to the table came incomplete. They don't bring out items completely as mentioned on the menu. When you ask about it, it almost felt like they are doing a favor.
Be the first to ReplyI've been meaning to come here for a long time and finally
I've been meaning to come here for a long time and finally did! The interior is really beautiful and we were able to get an outside lounge table. It's enclosed during the winter and heated and it was comfortable. They also lit the fire next to us. The happy hour 3 spreads were pretty good and all the presentation was really pretty. The feta bread is really well seasoned and delicious, and the date flatbread was pretty good too. The lamb and beef kefta kabob were okay and could've been flavored a little more, but the rice was really good albeit with a little too much lemon. The drinks were pretty tasty too. Overall, I think Aba is a nice place for the ambience and the food and drinks are additional bonuses to the place. However, most of the experience felt impacted by the service. Our waitress for the first half of the night seemed okay but there were times when she seemed patronizing and making unnecessary snippy remarks to any questions or conversation in general. She became relatively nicer towards the end of the night, but I did notice her being a lot nicer to everyone around us from the beginning of when they were seated. Everyone else besides her was incredibly nice and attentive though. The other servers and food runners were really helpful, kind, and always checking in on us. It was pretty disappointing since I was waiting to come here for a while and brought family who were visiting out of town. Definitely would come here for the aesthetic and ambience above anything else.
