Graduate Berkeley Stay
Everything was great. Hotel was minutes away from campus and other food options. Vibrant neighborhood. The decor was amazing and really well thought out. Henry's was a good experience in the morning as well as the night time too!

Recommend. The hotel is perfectly situated a few blocks away from the center of campus, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and the rooms are charming. (Though the bathroom could have used an update.) I'll certainly be back the next time I am visiting my daughter!

Enjoyed our stay at The Graduate Hotel, Berkeley former The Durant. Appreciated the unique amenities such as extra sheet on top of the blanket for protection, soaps very creamy, electric kettle, very clean room.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Stay: Friendly Staff and Tasty Breakfast at Graduate Berkeley
I recently had a great stay at Graduate Berkeley, formerly known as Hotel Durant, thanks in no small part to the exceptional employees who made my experience truly memorable. I first stayed here in 2009 and have enjoyed every stay since. The two employees at the breakfast place were awesome - they listened to all of my requests and the chef's cooking was fantastic, especially the freshly baked bread. The receptionists were also very helpful, quickly sending room service that was pending for a day or so. While I love the ambience of this hotel, with its old classical touch, I must say that the price is a bit high. Additionally, there were a few minor issues with the room, such as the bathroom's lack of ventilation, which made it uncomfortable at times. However, the staff's dedication to providing excellent customer service more than made up for these issues. Although there were some areas for improvement, like the noise in the lobby and the need for more regular room service, my experience was overwhelmingly positive. I highly recommend Graduate Berkeley for anyone looking for a great stay in Berkeley with delicious breakfast and exceptional employees.
Be the first to ReplyA student hang out not a real hotel
Seems to be more of a student dorm than a hotel. Fine to come here if you want the student dorm experience. The breakfast was a disaster. Waited 15 minutes and was then given a hot chocolate rather than a coffee. Croissant was stale.

Excellent and conveniently located to UC Berkeley. We were very glad to have chosen the Graduate Hotel and came to realize that there are several (I believe 35 locations in various college city towns across the US.
Be the first to ReplyJust like a dorm room.
On my second night, the room next to me was partying from 11p to 3:30 a.m. I communicated multiple times to the front desk but the staff were never able to control these guests. Then the front desk made me feel like it was my fault; that I expected too much and should just try to deal with it. Then the staff suggested to move me to a new room but it was 3:00 in the morning and I had a 4:00 a.m. flight. Basically I was screwed on the night of hotel stay.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Lukewarm shower, vinyl floor when it said wood. No rug as in picture. Just not worth the price. Pictures made it look very comfortable with fresh flowers, bathtub in bathroom with a bathroom window. Asked to change rooms and 2nd room was better except for the fact that the water never got warm enough for a bath or shower. Expensive too.
Be the first to ReplyCouldn’t check in after hotel designated check in time (3 PM)
I arrived in the hotel lobby after 3PM to check in. I was told my room wasn’t ready, even though it was after the stated check in time. I told the front desk agent that I was happy to change rooms as long as I could keep a king bed. I was told there were no other king beds available and I would have to wait and they would call me when a room is ready. When I asked about any compensation for not being able to check in I was told the front desk would investigate and follow up. Later, when I returned to the front desk, I was given a business card for the hotel manager and was told I needed to follow up myself.

Lovely place to stay in Berkeley and close to the University and restaurants, highly recommend the avocado toast breakfast with eggs. The staff are very helpful and the decor is wonderful, I wish all hotels were so well decorated :)
Be the first to ReplyNo Hot Water and Did Not Honor Late Check Out from my Reservation Reciept
I was unhappy with my experience at this hotel. The first morning there was no hot water. I will also add that there was no compensation for this incovience. Secondly the online reservation system allowed me to select late checkout for Sunday. On the reservation receipt I was sent prior to my stay it included this Late checkout and a reminder that it was at 2pm. When I headed out to go to my morning meeting I luckily decided to verify this with the front desk who then notified me that this was not something they allowed on weekends. I was then Late for my meeting due to having to run upstairs and pack my stuff earlier than I was expecting to. Had I not checked with the front desk I would have not known that my online reservation and receipt did not match what their system in the hotel had. This was the worst experience I have had at a hotel thus far. The only positive part of my stay was that I was able to check in early and the front desk staff during check-in were very friendly.
Be the first to ReplyHotel had issues. Went unacknowledged.
I booked this hotel as I had some travel to the university. I had a 4 day stay and on night number 2, there was no hot water in the hotel. I was forced to endure a freezing shower after a long day. I thought this would have been fixed by morning time, but I was wrong. I woke up to no hot water again and had to endure another freezing shower. The problem got fixed on day 4 but I had less than 24hrs left at the hotel. I went to check out on my last morning and no one acknowledged that there was an issue, nor apologized, nor offered any type of compensation of any sorts. I was totally disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyPleasantly Surprised.
I stayed 2 nights on 5th floor facing away from campus. I felt the room was quiet.
The room was big because it was ADA room.
Bed was a bit old but overall comfortable.
The room had a window AC and a fan.
The only bad part is that the door to the room does not create a seal, that means every time someone passes outside in the hallway, you can hear them speak.
The hardwood floor is a nice touch but the lady in the room above wore heals when she stepped out the room, so for the few mins she had her heels on, it was heard loud and clear downstairs in my room.
The checkin staff was nice, I for the lady's name, she is from Lebanon. Thanks to her for setting the good tone.
I will stay here again.
Overdue for total renovatio
Very old hotel, not charming. Not shabby-sheek , just plain shabby. Room has a musty smell. Bathroom tiles and floors have mold. The toilet seat is way too low. Toilet has a small leak so every few minutes the water would run to fill the tank with a lot of noise. Air conditioner not working, a very noisy floor standing portable unit was in the room. Mattress sagged in the middle. The entire property needs a total renovation.
Be the first to ReplyOur Berkeley go-to
Our daughter lives in a tiny Berkeley apt. so when we visit her from the east coast, we stay at Graduate. It is close to the university, comfortable and understated. The staff is always welcoming & everything is clean.
Be the first to ReplyGood character, location, staff
Stayed here during a conference near Berkeley and enjoyed my visit. Front desk was flexible about logistics change, hotel had lots of character, and it’s in a central location that was easy to reach on foot from the BART transit station.
Be the first to ReplyGood location, mediocre rooms
I have stayed at the Graduate for the past five years, but this visit was a disappointment. The ac was broken, so was the ceiling fan - but no one at the front desk told me even though they knew. When i asked for more towels, none arrived. All in all, they are friendly, but the place felt dingy and not worth the high price for a small room that faced a very noisy street.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous location for visiting Cal
Will try and use this location for all my future Cal visits, the location and service can't be beat. This is within walking distance to campus and most Berkeley restaurants/entertainment. The staff were all friendly and helpful, even remembered my name the next day! Thanks Graduate!
Be the first to ReplyIn the Heart of the Berkeley Experience
The Graduate in Berkeley is unmatched in terms of its proximity to campus and local favorite eateries. You get a true sense of the student experience (or you get to re-live great memories if you are an alum) by staying here. The staff was warm and extremely helpful. Being able to grab a drink or snack at Henry’s or have such a short walk to so many other food options (as well as campus) make this a must stay place during your visit to Berkeley. In addition, after so many hotels looking and feeling the same, the Graduate in Berkeley was such a cozy and welcoming experience.
Be the first to ReplyLovely place, noisy on the Durant Ave. side, unsafe neighborhood when you walk down towards Telegraph. I was accosted 2x
Lovely place but noisy, parking challenging and unsafe neighborhood. I love the rooms and the public areas of the hotel but the security is lacking in an unsafe neighborhood. I was accosted twice one block away by a homeless man.
