Vue de monde Melbourne Reviews
3 hat restaurant
Vue de Monde definitely lived up to our expectations. The view is spectacular and even though we didn’t have a window table, we could enjoy the view. Attention to detail is meticulous. Each course is presented with an explanation. All the preparation and cooking is done in full view of diners, which enhances the experience. Diners are given the option of a tour through the work area, as well as behind the scene scullery and pantry. The experience at Vue de Monde is well worth its price, and is a perfect celebration venue. We had travelled from Auckland to dine at Vue de Monde and it was worth the trip.
Beautiful spot with a lovely view of Melbourne.
We enjoyed most everything we ate, quality ingredients and beautiful presentations too. The only course we weren't too fond of was the cheese course; we prefer stronger tasting cheeses than what we got. Certainly a personal preference. The macadamia butter topped with caviar could be better; while I liked both ingredients by itself, it felt like the nuttiness of the macadamia nut was overpowering the delicate flavors of the caviar. Service was a bit mixed. On one hand, we enjoyed the white glove service that's commensurate with the price paid for the dinner. We also appreciate being brought through the wine cellar on our way out to get a glimpse of their collection. On the other hand, the dinner took waaaayyyy longer than it needed to at 4.5 hours; there were long gaps between courses. At the end of the dinner, we were tired and also feeling bad for our friends who had to get their babysitter to stay much longer than originally expected.
Atmosphere was a let down
Thank you for a wonderful dining experience. As always, the ingredients, preparation and service were exceptional and we truly enjoyed dining with you. A negative for us, however, was the seeming lack of dress code. While I am certainly not fashionable, we felt that the dress standard of some of the patrons detracted from the overall atmosphere that we value. Vue de Monde is obviously a 5 star establishment, yet when male diners show up in tee shirts, shorts or blue jeans, it detracts from the 5 star environment and does not meet our expectation. We are aware that policing dress is difficult, but I think that a posted dress code, with the policy that guests are expected to adhere to it, would go a long way to preserve the atmosphere that Vue du Monde is worthy of. Moreover, we were surprised that one diner brought an infant to the restaurant, which again did not fit with our experience with other premium dining.
Magnificent!!
Great experience and if you can visit the restaurant you should try it at least once. The reason I mention visit only once, it is because it is extremely expensive but worth it for a special occasion (In my view). We were celebrating my wife's sixtieth birthday. The restaurant its self in totality, is magnificent. The service cannot be faltered from the time you enter the vicinity. Everyone is helpful and so willing to please but they provide service without effort. The ambience is vibrant full of anticipation. We had great seating where could see the city from the one side and had full view of the Kitchen on the other side. Privileged to be watching an army of chefs display their skills with vigor, military precision but also with flair. The reddish broth at the start which seemed like a palate cleanser was not terrible but created a question mark if we made the wright decision in attending. The remaining 15 causes were faultless, delicious, with a sense of theater and anticipation. 3.5 hours just flew bye and you were left with gratifying fulfilling experience Highly recommended and would definitely return given the wright circumstances
Absolutely spectacular
From the moment we stepped out of the lift on the 55th floor we were treated like royalty. Can you rate something 6, 7 or 8 stars out of 5? The service was just outstanding. And the food: each morsel was clearly made with love, finesse, attention to detail and flavour. This was expensive and worth every cent. The view was pretty amazing too.
Rediscovering Fine Dining
We've recently visited several fine dining restaurants and consistently felt disappointed. Finally... we discovered a gem. Thank you for restoring our faith in fine dining!
Breathtaking view, exquisite service.. these guys definitely know what they’re doing!
……woW Thankyou so much for making our experience special.. the moment we arrived we were made to feel like the only people in the room on our anniversary. We loved the kitchen tour it was a nice touch that elevated an elegant evening into outstanding..
Exceptional service
Where do l begin ? From the moment we stepped in, the exceptional service began, everyone greeted you as you walked by. The restaurant hadn’t opened at this stage so we were shown to a private table with breathtaking views of Melbourne, where we both enjoyed a pre dinner drink. We were then taken to our table in the restaurant and the exceptional experience began. 13 small courses of the most highest quality delicious tasting food, “talk about a party in your mouth”. Do yourselves a favour and indulge yourselves in this unbelievable experience, you won’t regret it.
Exceptional experience with my darting
We had an amazing experience for our anniversary - the staff were so friendly and attentive, helping us to have a flawless dinner , the meals were so delicious, stunning and sumptuous. highly recommend this place for a special celebration
Great Views and drink
Finding the entrance to Lui Bar in Vue De Monde was a bit of an adventure, but once we made it in, we were spoiled to have all the spontaneous drinks and yummy food. The sunset views from the bar were absolutely stunning. This is definately a great and romantic place for a kids free couple date night. The entire experience was wonderful until it came time to settle the bill upon leaving the bar. We were taken aback when the bartender mentioned their reliance on tips from tourists, contrasting with the local custom of minimal tipping and we live in melbourne. This left us with mixed feelings as we departed, especially after paying a substantial bill with high service charges. While we're not sure if we're overthinking it, the encounter did leave us feeling slightly awkward.
Couldn't have been any better!
Outstanding service made this an experience we will never forget! From the welcome and entry right through to our departure we felt special. Our table staff Jasmine and Sommelier Fergus made every moment and interaction memorable. Finishing our evening with a private balcony view of the city and our favourite music playing was spectacular! The mouth watering food was a bonus for this amazing evening. Extra special mention to Stewart who took apart the balcony on the 55th floor to retrieve my husbands dropped phone the next morning!
Stunning degustation experience
We had an amazing experience for our recent degustation lunch - from being welcomed, to the numerous attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff, the stunning and sumptuous feast, the views from the 55th floor and even the awesome basin in the bathroom! Thoroughly recommend this place for a special celebration that will remain a favourite memory for many years to come.
Worst customer experience for the cost
Dreadful service, will never go back unfortunately as the food was amazing. Too many good choices in Mekbourne and surrounds now to be treated as badly as we were.
Exceeding all expectations
This was dining at its best. The atmosphere, the food, the setting. All hit the mark. It was amazing food. We were taken on a tour of the kitchen and out to decking which was extraordinary. Thoroughly enjoyed it, we will be back.
Everything is incredible!
We’ve got a present from our children: a dinner in this restaurant . So we visited it and everything can be described as incredible: service, view,, food and even cutlery. The restaurant is placed on 55th floor so probably all city can be seen, especially in evening time with streets and vehicles lights. Service was so extremely professional and friendly , that you can feel that everyone of restaurant staff is serving particularly your table. We even had a kitchen tour. And picture with restaurant staff. Regarding food , honestly at beginning I had concerns about very small portions size, but at the final stage of dinner we were full. All dishes were extremely delicious. Only one small thing, which was negative for us that some of sauces and lobster soup were too salty in our taste. Presentation of dishes is also incredible. Some dishes comes on or in stones. Cutlery is also special and placed on wood from vineyards. This place is really unique experience. It is not cheap place but it worth it.
Amazing experience
One of the best meals in Melb. Great view too. A rather long dinner but you dont feel it with all the showmanship. And the food was brilliant.
Australian Cuisine
I came to this restaurant with my family for dinner and I had the feeling that this restaurant is very polite and warm in the way of service. The night view is great and you can enjoy the whole view from the top. Well worth the experience.
Not Deserving of a 3 Hat rating. 1 Hat at best!
The servers lacked in almost all expectations. Wine Som was a D+. Zero personality & wine quality was average at best. Food was impressive!
Exceptional!
One of the best culinary experiences I have ever had. Food was sublime, service exceptional It’s hard to explain how special the visit to this restaurant is and I’m not surprised that it has obtained ‘3 hats’. The attention to detail is second to none. I would give more than 5 stars if possible
If you live in Australia this should be on your bucket list
What stands out perhaps the most about this place is the quality of the service staff (sorry Chef the food was really good too) and the manner in which they rotate around the room rather than you having to be stuck with someone who knows their cheese but knows naff all about tea. It was a faultless team performance from the moment we checked in. The food was indeed superb and as they say in 'The Menu' it is not to be eaten rather experienced. The comparison to the film is uncanny with the exception of the ending - no spoilers. Each portion is small but just the right size although as you start the marathon you have the niggly feeling that you might have to stop off at Maccas on the way home to fill up. By plate #12 you have undone the belt 2 notches and are not at all sure you have the room for 'one more waffer'. The decor is decidedly not vegan friendly with leather topped tables to animal skin chairs but most of the time it works. One small niggle, as the sun goes down the toilets become almost impossible to navigate without a flash light. The only other observation for tweaking would be a wider variety of non alcoholic options. The wine and the teas are second to none but for those of us who can't consume the booze there is not even a zero alcohol beer to quench the thirst. All in all, definitely worth remortgaging the house or selling a spare kidney before you die.
Needs work!
What started off as a wonderful evening/experience went downhill after the last main course, before desert. We were sitting at the table for about 15-20 mins after the table was cleared, with just water and had to ask a passing staff member "Is there anymore courses? We're not sure what's happening!" Things got quite loose in the service around then. Was a 7:30 booking and left after the dessert courses just before midnight. Maybe we didn't spend enought $$. We certainly did. Bad finish.
Top fine dining establishment
Experienced fine dine, we expected big things to match UK Michelin quality. The service was top drawer as you'd expect, quite a dark and moody place. Quite literally smoke and mirrors. There is always things to improve and personal preferences. For me they looked to go for that digital wine menu which is cool, how about some digital food menu to refer to. I like knowing what's coming up and reflect on previous dishes, just felt a bit led by the very good staff. A nice switch of people introducing the dishes was a good touch, all v friendly and passionate. Definitely give this a try for that special occasion
We booked this restaurant for a special occasion as an
We booked this restaurant for a special occasion as an early celebration before our wedding. FromThe moment we walked in, we were welcomed and looked after by staff. They have a bar connected to the restaurant which is separated into another room. The views from the restaurant was spectacular, making the whole experience much more enjoyable and romantic. The variety of foods on offer made from local Australian ingredients added a special touch especially for those who don't live in Australia. On top of that we got the wine pairing to go with our meals. We were definitely full after all the meals had come out, and it made it that much more memorable for my American fiancé with the views and the top notch service. I look forward to coming here againFor another special occasion, definitely not a place you'd come here casually as it is pricey ... unless you want to impress a date :)
Exemplary culinary performance
We went to the Vue De Monde on visiting Melbourne after some years. The food was amazing and the service was at a level you generally don't experience. We had a lady called Nicole who waited on out table, and then show us around the kitchen when we had finished. The meal presentation was different to when we last visited but was still a meal of a lifetime.
Absolutely fantastic!
Absolutely one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. The food was incredible but what made it extra special was the attention to detail - making an effort to acknowledge and celebrate a birthday and the friendly and polished staff who noticed every detail. Highly recommended.
Excellent Brunch
Great versions of some traditional brunch dishes plus a few extra. Coffee would be worth visiting for on its own. Good service. Went there twice and would happily return.
