We shall return.
What a wonderful find yesterday lunchtime, we were drawn in by the young P.R at the front. The food is wonderful and full of flavour. The wine is first class. The service superfriendly. We shall return.
Be the first to ReplyGood italian food.
The Aperol Spritz is good and really big. The food was good, the restaurant clean and a nice selection of wines. It’s a good choice if you want something good and not complicated.
Be the first to ReplyThe Host Drew Us In
It was a very raining evening and we hadn’t eaten much all day - so as we walked the wall of Italian restaurants on Irving street, it was the host flagging people down that drew us in. That plus heated outdoor covered seats. The food was good, wine selection fine. Cannot compare to the others - but we left very satisfied.
Be the first to ReplyInteresting but very quiet.
Reasonable menu served quite quickly. Good food which we all enjoyed Staff were I credibly slow to serve us the dessert menu, but to be honest desserts were dull
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service
5 of us for a meal out. This is not the cheapest restaurant, the standard chains are far cheaper but the quality of food and the service is superb. Been here twice now and will keep returning.
Be the first to ReplyFast, fresh Italian food - Villiers St
My Mum, daughter and I went to the branch in Villiers St before a matinee theatre show. For roughly £20 a head for a passably authentic Italian meal, I don't know what else you could expect. Particularly if you need to get in and out to get to a show on time. The staff were very attentive, friendly and courteous and our meals came out fresh and quickly. Both the adults had Penne Primavera, the pasta was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were nice and chunky and cooked well, none were soggy or rock hard. My daughter had Spaghetti Bolognaise which was delicious, although her portion was probably slightly too big for a child, the children's option also came with a fruit juice and a scoop of ice cream. In central London, £15 for all three, I think is a bargain. Adults had panna cotta and coconut ice cream for dessert, both were tasty and well prepared/made. Drinks were quite pricey, no one had alcohol but we did have mocktails, but that's par for the course where ever you go. If you want slow cooked authentic Italian food, this probably isn't the place for you, but then you will pay 3x the price and be there for much longer. Will visit again the next time I have a similar trip!
Be the first to ReplyReliable restaurant with outside seating and heaters
18-Nov-23 L'Ulivo Leicester Square: Visited on a Saturday lunchtime before a matinee theatre performance. It was just about warm enough for an outside table with the heaters they had on, and it was nice to be in the bustle of that corner of Leicester Square. I actually didn't know this restaurant was a chain, having previously been to the one by Embankment. Food was good (Pollo Milanese), with a nice glass of wine. Service was friendly and with a smile. Would happily return.
Be the first to Replyfood so bad i could not eat it.
food is terrible, the pasta is bland tomato is tasteless, the vegetable soup did not have any vegetables, gnocchi pasta is terrible did not like it.
Be the first to ReplyIt’s ok…
So the venue is nice, modern and looks good. Staff were all helpful when you caught their attention. Out of the four Italians in this street that we’ve tried this is probably the best. I just could not get excited about the food. Is quantity over quality here. Portions were large.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service, superb food and great atmosphere
Very accommodating, wife has an obscure allergy and they cooked everything beautifully. Excellent atmosphere. Staff are helpful, friendly and not in a rush to move you on. Well priced for the overall quality of our meal and drinks. Thank you

Food was ok but we had to ask for a little time in between courses otherwise we would have been finishing our meal in under an hour. The restaurant wasn't busy so we are unsure of the reason why the kitchen doesn't look after the customers in a more relaxed manner. New staff were obviously being trained up so we had to repeat some of our order twice but staff were friendly. The toilets are downstairs and there is no accessible toilet, the stairs to the toilets are very narrow and steep so no facilities for wheelchair users and guests with limited mobility. Reason given for the lack of facilities was the age the building but there would be sufficient space on entry level to create a accessible toilet which of course is required to be available by law under the DDA act. We unfortunately can't recommend this restaurant for the reasons outlined.
Be the first to ReplySuperb restaurant
What a fantastic restaurant, we had goats cheese and steak from the special’s menu. It was delicious and the pepper corn sauce was amazing ♥️👌 Service by enis and foxy was excellent 👍
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and staff
Incredible food, all five of us had different food options and we all found the food incredible. The staff were all attentive and brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us! We would highly recommend this amazing restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyPoor food coupled with similar quality of service - enjoy if you like the combo!
Very poor quality of food and completely incompetent, slow and clueless waiters that create an impression they were hired on the day. Pizza was barely edible with cheese undercooked, pasta dishes resembled an attempt of a 7 year old at cooking at home. I realise that they benefit from the fantastic always busy location and can afford to not care about the food or services much but you don't have to be a victim of this after all so avoid if you can.
Be the first to ReplyGreat choice for a weekday late lunch
Visited this hidden gem on our last day for a lunch. We had the Calamari as an appetizer along with the Peach Bellinis. I had the Fantasia Penne Pasta with grilled chicken and oven roasted tomatoes and a light, mild sauce. My wife had a pasta dish with salmon that she loved. The portions are large and the service was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyThank you for supporting the homeless for the krishna charity

I thank them for their service Hare krishna Hare rama charity they come every day from 5 pm onwards at charing cross. I am so grateful that you guys are supporting their charity
Be the first to ReplyTasteless food. Poor service
Poor food & disorganised service. The pizzas are all marguerites and then toppings added after cooking! The pizza was tasteless. Drinks served after the food. Lots of staff but none seemed to know what the other was doing. The decor was welcoming with an olive tree but sadly the food didn’t live up to the appearance of the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service, huge portions and good food but not cheapest
Lovely food. Lasagna was amazing and large portions. The service was amazing and so much food. The service is super fast and drink was good. Service is already added at 12.5%. Bill for 6 was £280 so not cheap.
Be the first to ReplyDecidedly average
It's a basic italian restaurant with not great food and not great service. Nothing special about it all. Not terrible just not very inspiring.
Be the first to ReplyDecent food, bad service!!!
GF was craving Italian so I had a google search for the best Italian food nearby and it directed us to L'ulivo. We went to the one on Villiers Street opposite Charing Cross Station on a cold rainy Tuesday early evening. We walked in as (what looked like) the branch manager was also walking in. She grabbed two menus and walked us to a table right away. She literally walked up to the table, slapped the menus down and went off. Strike 1. Place looks like it's family run, you can kinda tell. We waited and then took an order, two lasagnas, some garlic bread, an appletiser and a berry mojito. We waited a short while. They brought out an appletiser and a coca-cola. We told them that wasn't the drinks order. They took the coke back and then our food came out shortly after. About 60% of the way through our meal the manager brings a coke again. We tell her it's the wrong order, and then we wait another age for the drink. Strike 2. I then had to get up from my meal, go to the bar and I was impeded by the waiter. I was trying to get a straw for the super-late berry mojito. That berry mojito was just juice and grenadine... Lasagna was decent, and the garlic bread wasn't very garlic-y at all. A shame. The third waitress to serve us took our payment. We decided to remove the service charge, to which she replied 'was something wrong with the service today?' Haha if only she had a few mins to spare I would have told her! Overall verdict: Decent to below-average food, mid-level price about £55 for everything. Decent ambience. Bad service but I will give them the benefit of the doubt on a busy Tuesday in central London. I don't envisage it's always like this, because it was pretty woeful. I don't usually write reviews but this was so bad I had to.
Be the first to ReplyDreadful
I’m not usually one for ne for restaurant reviews, but having just had a down right dreadful meal, I felt I had to put something out there. All good on arrival, a lovely looking restaurant, handy for the theatre. And the menus we were handed on arrival contained a pre-theatre set menu, just the job for a party of four with two hours to eat before our show started. The first problem was that, when we tried to order from the pre-theatre we were told that they had stopped offering that menu weeks ago. Well maybe it would make sense to remove those menus weeks ago as well! No matter, we selected from the fairly pricey Al a carte menu. I chose mussels to start. They eventually arrived, several minutes after the starters for the rest of my party, with the cream sauce tasting strongly of (burnt) garlic and the mussels so over cooked as to be inedible. The calamari ordered by two of my companions suffered a similar fate. Mine was so over done that I couldn’t finish it. When I told the waiter that they were so overcooked I couldn’t eat them, he interpreted that to mean I was unable to eat them all and brought my over done mussels back to me in a doggy bag! After a lengthy wait, our mains appeared. My prawns and avocado salad was plentiful but basic. Salad leaves were only iceberg, no other salad ingredients except a few spare cherry tomatoes, avacado in chunks and the plentiful prawns rather chewy from extended cooking. Presentation left so much to be desired. For a £16 salad, this was far below my expectations. The prawn pasta that my mum had also suffered from the same heavy hand that oversaw the destruction of molluscs in the kitchen. And no black pepper or Parmesan offered. Surely Italian restaurant 101. We waited about 20 minutes to be offered a dessert menu. When I finally attracted the attention of a waitress she brought me the bill, and dashed off before I could explain that wasn’t what I had asked for. By this point, we decided to cut our losses and just leave. In fairness the manager offered us a free dessert to share, which arrived after we had paid and was ok, but it was an overall very poor experience at a premium price
Be the first to ReplyTasty food
I recommend 👌 the place ! The food it's amazing very tasty and the service was excellent! Nice environment perfect for lunch or dinner. I had a nice experience with the staff that surprised with very nice cocktails and good quality food! Thank you to the manager Cristian for all the treats and good customer service because it's important to receive your food on time and very warm and tasty.

A friend booked us lunch here. And we both were disappointed. The restaurant itself is well located, close to the theatres and the National Gallery and has a nice decor, however everything goes downwards from there: Accessibility: Street level entrance, but the door is fairly narrow and the table area outside so close to the entrance may mean the wider wheelchairs could have problems with getting in. No accessible toilet facilities. You have to go to the basement down a tall and steep staircase, and the handle is literally inside the wall, in a tiny ditch carved in the wall with sharp edges that damage your sleeve if you dare to hold onto it , and if like me you’re on crutches, there’s no other choice. No provision is made for wheelchair users. No thought for given for hearing impaired or deaf diners either. The sound proofing is non existent, so the noise bounces in every direction making any conversation next to impossible. Not sure if there is an accessible menu for visually impaired, we did not ask for it. Food and Service Our coffees were brought in spilled all over into the saucers - can happen to the best, but we were not offered napkins or fresh saucers to replace the soupy ones, and we had to use tissues to wipe the cups before drinking not to drip all over on our clothes. I ordered pasta with chicken in sundried tomato sauce, and what I got was pasta that was far too aldente, with pieces of chicken dumped into the sundried tomato paste straight from the jar and heated. My friend ordered fresh tuna salad, which specified the fresh tuna as an ingredient on the menu, but got tinned tuna instead. When we raised this with the Serving Person we were told “you should have asked”. But why would one need to ask for the ingredients that are specified on the menu (NOT a substitute you need to request) and then charged for? The whole experience was disappointing . Definitely do not recommend.
Be the first to ReplyNice restaurant but small portions. The spaghetti bolognaise was tasty but tu size of the portion was small
Small portions which left us feeling hungry.
Nice restaurant but small portions. The spaghetti bolognaise was tasty but tu size of the portion was small and inadequate.
It’s a shame they were not more generous as we will not be returning.
