Amazing experience! Service - Outstanding.
Cocktails - definitely get one! Beef Tartare - Excellent. Chicken Liver Mousse - Incredible. Braised Pork - Delicious. Hanger Steak - the best my husband has ever had. Olive Oil Cake - omggggg.Might be good to plan ahead with a reservation, as they're a more intimate restaurant, BUT for a party of two - we walked in around 8pm and had no trouble on a Saturday night.Highly recommend!!

Excellent dinner!! My husband had the cheeseburger and he said it was the best one he's ever had. I ordered the hanger steak and it was so tender and flavorful. The service was top notch as well. We'll definitely be returning.

This place was AWESOME. The food was incredible. Ordered oysters, ox tail, salad and dessert. 10/10!!! Every time I come back to Roanoke, I'm coming back to this place.

We were a large party and had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend this creative and tasty restaurant. Away from the downtown hustle so parking right in front is easy and seemed much safer than downtown too. We had a variety of items, basically one of everything and everyone enjoyed it. Chef and team are attentive to details with their preparation and presentation. An order of hanger steak was very tiny portion and cold when served (try the hanger at Edo’s Squid in Richmond). Speciality cocktails were a treat also, pricey but worth it. Felt special as a guest of of theirs. It is always nice when you actually feel welcomed by a capable and friendly team of associates and professionals. So different than other larger restaurants & hotels downtown where you feel more like table they want to turn quickly to seat another. It is our go to whenever we are in town and yes, we have tried all the competitors. Keep up the nice work, we will be back for more!

This place is a gem in SWVA.
Not too many high end restaurants in this neck of the woods. I've been twice but because I've been living in Los Angeles for the last 25 years I've lacked opportunity. This latest time I had the Duck and my brother ordered the Ossobuco. Both delicious. I look forward to returning and trying something else off their very eclectic menu.

River & Rail has long been one of the premier restaurants in Roanoke and Southwest. The staff is fantastic. The food is always changing and very unique and delicious. Everyone there is top notch. A great date night. You won't be disappointed!
smooth and satisfying experience
This is a great place to have a meal! The dishes were inventive and well executed, the service was as efficient as could be expected, and everyone was friendly. We were a party of 8, and everything that comes with dealing with a larger group was handled perfectly. The dishes we most enjoyed were the spicy pork rinds, cornbread, hangar steak, and dark chocolate cremeux. Highly recommend this small but finely tuned restaurant!

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal. The menu is limited, the kitchen is open and very small. Reservations are hard to get. And it's "slow food" so don't be expecting your meal to come out fast. But this was some of the best food and wonderful service ever! Our server was super welcoming. I sometimes feel like the wait staff at upscale restaurants turn their noses up when you don't order alcohol, appetizers, desserts. I tip very well so that wait staff will be rewarded for decent service and rewarded very generously for good service. I don't drink and don't like to waste food so I usually just get water and an entree. Despite this, our server treated us like we were royalty. I was very hungry so I ordered a salad to start (bib lettuce with homemade ranch dressing, bleu cheese, candied pecans and Granny Smith apple dice). The salad was delicious. They were packed so it took a while for my salad to come out. That meant I did not take a picture because I was starving. My last course was the PEI mussels. They were amazing! Usually served with butter-wine broth, these had a creamy dill-infused broth with lardon and Granny Smith apple dice. Amazing flavor combo! The broth was a little salty so the bites of apple were a fabulous complement. My husband's trout was delicious as well. If you are a picky/unadventurous eater, the limited menu may not be for you. But I have found my new favorite restaurant in Roanoke!

The staff, service and food was perfect! If I lived closer I would definitely eat here all the time. Very friendly atmosphere and no wait for drinks, appetizers and food.
Close to the hotel gem
I read some of the reviews of this place. What a cool place to eat. The view of the kitchen and bar and friendliness of the staff are inviting. Wait until the food and drinks come out…..over the top! A recommended stop anytime in Roanoke, Va

We had an exceptional experience at River and Rail during our first trip to Roanoke. Our waiter was helpful, kind, and funny and the staff in general worked together beautifully to make our entire experience feel really special. We loved getting to see into the open kitchen while the chefs prepared dishes and everything was delicious. We got the cheese platter and pimento cheese with pork rinds (pictured) to start and were really happy with both. We found out too late about the secret menu item simply called The Burger so I guess we'll have to take another trip to try that. ;) Our steaks were great though and the ice cream and sorbet flights topped everything off nicely. Really glad we found this spot.

* FulfilledThread16, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FulfilledThread16 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FulfilledThread16 for any questions Peter may have as FulfilledThread16 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FulfilledThread16 now uses their connections at The River and Rail Restaurant Roanoke to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FulfilledThread16 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
