The drinks were great and I thoroughly enjoyed my appetizer but the manager was extremely rude to me. I ordered the Tortelli Di Michelangelo Buonarroti and the flavor was mealy and bloody. I asked my waitress if I could get a replacement entre and she was very polite and said she would have to let the manager know. Jimmy walked over to my table and proceeded to tell me that if I ordered something else and didn't like it I would still have to pay for it. He was very rude to me and I will never eat there again.

The experience at Sotto Sotto was memorable, encapsulating, and filled with a sense of luxury. The owner (I believe) was delighted to direct us to the hostess stand, and we were placed at a table in the garden room. The garden room offered scenery that immersed us in nature, providing a welcome respite from the usual sights of Atlanta's restaurants. Our server, Josh, delivered exceptional service with a welcoming energy, smile, and demeanor that made us feel special and important. Josh took care of all our requests, handled menu questions regarding food allergies and ingredients, and was ready to deliver alternative options in detail (we were very impressed by this). The food was amazing -- you could taste the passion in every bite. This was a perfect place for an intentional date/meeting/social gathering. I highly recommend dining here for Italian cuisine, and I look forward to returning to try more dishes soon!

We had an absolutely delicious meal with really solid service. The meat salad was delicious. The Caesar salad was good, but not great. The Paccheri Alla Calabrese and the pappardelle with duck ragu were both phenomenal. Nudi was delicate and so yummy. Only complaint: our meal took us over 2 hours even though we had a small party. It was lovely and leisurely...but it also meant that valet parking was $10 (even with validation).

I think I would rank this as the best Italian spot in Atlanta. My go to is the Tagliatelli fungi and my boyfriend got the Pacherri ala Calabresi. Both dishes were phenomenal! Honorable mention is the strozzapreti (priest stranglers). Pasta overall is 10/10. Service was good and ambience is perfect for a quiet date night. If you have a big group, the back patio is great if you want to get a little rowdy.
Great food! Terrible service.
I go once or twice year. And, every time the service is an issue. This time no server showed up to acknowledge the table for easily 10 minutes. It's a problem. It's not that hard to tell a table. You are very busy and you need a second before can come to them. This seems more and more common with Atlanta restaurants sadly.

.. you will not regret coming here. My husband and I came as soon as they opened. Indoor seating is very dark so we chose to sit outside. It is roofed but they also have open windows. If it is cold they also have those tall heater lamps. We got 3 dishes to try different ones and share. It was all 10/10 but if I HAD to choose my favorite, it would be the Mushroom Risotto. OH MY GAWD WAS IT SOOOO DELICIOUS. Service was all super amazing. There's plenty of seating outside, inside, and at the bar. I would definitely be back for date night.

granddame ages, not well
Sad when a former granddame ages. We’ve been going to Sotto Sotto since it opened in 1999, have always regarded it well, celebrated several special occasions there, but a recent visit was a disappointment. First, the good part. A pleasant outdoor garden room has been added behind the bar so it is no longer just the fairly cramped dining room with a smallish patio out back, as when Sotto Sotto first opened. But the food has lost its edge. The potatoes that came with the branzino were skimpy and soggy, not ample and crisp as previously. The Tortellini Michelangelo, an old favorite, was leathery and lacked taste. A mention to the server elicited only a shrug. The drinks were skimpy and overpriced—and, worse, served after the starters had come. The service was indifferent to worse, both too little and too much; things appeared in no particular order with intrusive attempts to whisk unfinished dishes away. I believe in second chances, but I’m not sure I’ll be going back.
This was a great anniversary dinner spot.
It's a smaller spot but the tables are not jammed up so has a great feel, but better book early (we had 5pm and 9pm options about two weeks out). The server was delightful and kept our orders well paced. The appetizer mussels and our pasta mains were all tasty. As were the drinks and wine! Solid spot.

The food is good with a lot of the orientation towards pasta.Our party declared the priest stranglers and lasagna as the winners. One important thing to be aware of in the cold weather is that a majority of the tables are essentially outside on a back patio with some shelter and gas patio heaters. We went on a particularly cold night and were uncomfortable even keeping on winter coats so if you are making a reservation you might want to confirm an inside table or reschedule.
Great food service was outstanding
Device by Megan was outstanding. Every morsel was great lasagna outstanding. Salads great. Ravioli delish. Chocolate soup to kill for. It was our first visit but not our last
Nasty seafood risotto --- haughty management
The Seafood risotto was nasty. Very fishy and unpleasant. The risotto itself was poorly cooked --- soggy and soupy rather than chewy. I mentioned it to the server, she came back and said the manager (who didnt deign to speak to me) said I had waited too late and had eaten some of it (maybe a 1/3), moreover it had the normal taste. I have had risotto many times in many places, as well as frutti di mare dishes many times over 40 years in Italy, France and the US. I know what they taste like. They dont taste nasty. I very rarely send back food. But this was simply bad. And the attitude just as haughty as I suspected below. Never again.

For weeks their computer confirmation program text us even for the last three days every day. Yes we will be there for 8pm. We did not get seated until 9pm. The wine by the glass selection was poor. The staff was great and friendly. The ceaser salad was tastless. They need to shave the parmasean cheese so you can see it. Add mustard or anything to make it stand out. The stuffed raviole was undercooked and under seasoned. It tasted as if it have been sitting out for days. Way to crowded ! You know you are too close when the table next to you peppers their food and some of it comes flying you way . I am not kidding.
A VERY good place to enjoy a terrific meal.
I have been twice so far and both times were good to very good. We had a great server (Cannot remember her name, a lovely young lady from Maryland). I had the deconstructed lasagna and it was delicious. A bottle of wine and some great apps. We really enjoyed it very much.
Italian perfection
Our dinner at Sotto Sotto was hands down our best meal in Atlanta. If you are looking for huge portions of red-sauce Italian dishes with checkered table cloths, this is definitely not the place. Instead, Sotto Sotto is a surprising large restaurant with an elegant take on Italian cuisine. They know how to make cocktails here. Negronis, Manhattans, and after diner espresso martinis were all excellent. We started our meal with a shared plate of simple fava beans and small chunks excellent pecorino cheese. Our Caesar salad was large enough to share for four, and appropriately garlicky. The pasta here is prepared at an expert level. My wife's tortelli were stuffed with flavorul meat and served with a sage butter sauce just like in Bologna. My daughter-in-law enjoyed her large tubes of paccheri in a spicy tomato sauce like you would find in Tuscany. I am often disappointed by restaurant made risotto, but my son-in-law assured me that it was terrific here. He was correct: it was one of the best seafood risotto I've ever had in America. The rice was perfectly al-dente and tasted like with was lovingly cooked by an expert in Venice. My stepson enjoyed with roasted fish, but kept taking bites of my flavorful risotto. A modestly priced white wine from Liguria was a perfect complement for his meal I would highly recommend Sotto Sotto as an authentic Italian dinning experience. Excellent food without the cost of an airline ticket.

One of the best Italian restaurants in atlanta! Anything you order here will be good. Amazing pastas and service is always wonderful. I recommend sitting in the outdoor patio section if going on a date as it's such a beautiful ambiance in there! Some of my favorite pastas from here are the Strozapreti, the Tagliatelle is great, the Alfredo, and the Tortelli de Michelangelo is great if you like meat. 10/10 Italian spot in atlanta! The best part is, they stay open late!!
A foodie's paradise serving Northern Italian cuisine. Perfect for business and pleasure
My husband of 41 years thanked me most romantically for choosing Sotto Sotto to celebrate our anniversary. He promised a return trip to the restaurant. The food at Sotto Sotto was a sensory masterpiece, akin to experiencing art. As we stepped inside, the aroma of garlic, rosemary, olive oil, and seared veal instantly transported us to Italy. Every dish we tasted was a memorable journey, leaving us craving for more. We started our meal with a sbagliatto cocktail, which is basically a Negroni with a twist. Prosecco replaces gin, and adding Luxardo Cherries and a fresh slice of orange peel made it the best sbagliatto I’ve had in Atlanta. Our starters were a fresh presentation of carpaccio and a colorful caprese salad. It was nearly impossible to choose a Primi because all of the dishes were inviting. We decided to order Secundi instead. My husband ordered a veal chop, fragranced with garlic and rosemary and topped with a medley of mushrooms. It was a generous portion, and he shared some bites with me. My choice for the Secundi, or the main dish, was tortelloni. The check created light, fluffy pasta pillows with a blend of artichoke and mascarpone filling. They were light, fluffy pillows with a delicate touch. I feel they should have been on the first-course menu. But I was in a mood for something light because I wanted dessert. Chef Ullio serves the best panna cotta in Atlanta. Panna cotta is an Italian dessert of sweetened cream thickened with gelatin molded into a white cushion dotted with flecks of vanilla bean. The Chef dressed it with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Whenever I see this dessert, I order it and make mental comparisons. Sotto’s Panna Cotta was amazing. We ended the meal with a serving of Affogato, which is ice cream drowned in a shot of expresso. This ending to a beautiful meal secured our promise to return.

An almost hidden romantic date spot right off N Highland Ave. We got the smoked burrata and vongole. Me and my boyfriend went for our 1 year anniversary and they greeted us with a free glass of champagne. Every part about this place is impeccable. Pasta? GREAT! Appetizers? AMAZING! Drinks? CAN'T GO WRONG! P.S. they make a killer Aviation

Couldn't recommend Sotto Sotto more! This was probably my 3rd or 4th visit now & every time I'm more charmed than the last. Service is impeccable & the food is always delicious & so well made. It's very reasonably priced for the quality! Sexy & relaxed vibe, it somehow feels super private even when seating is rather intimate. Don't be afraid to ask if you can switch out noodle types. A few menu items rotate & I've never disliked any of the new dishes. Dates, girls night, in-laws in town, Sotto Sotto is the place! I'm already anticipating my next visit.

I was in Atlanta for a work trip and we came here for dinner. It was absolutely amazing! Everything we ate was so flavorful and I loved all of our selections. I also had the mushroom risotto and it was one of the best I've ever tried. I highly recommend the risotto! The server was also very nice and friendly. I very much enjoyed my dinner here.

We did drop in found its best to make reservations. So we had to sit at bar which was bad at all. The restaurant is kinda small. Bartender Song was wonderful very attentive. Her drink were delicious. Great ambiance for a date night.

This restaurant excels in all the other places you respect for a mid-high class Italian place except for the food. Which is not to say it’s bad, it’s perfectly serviceable but at their price range you expect the dishes to be executed a little better. The place is good for a date if you’re trying to impress someone who doesn’t have much of a palate. Service was very good, the wine list is solid and I did have a lovely savingon blanc but out of the dishes I tried I didn’t think the price point matched the quality of the food. The tortelli I was overcooked almost like it had been finished in a dry heat. The halibut was slightly overcooked and every dish lacked salt. Nothing blew me away, nothing made me want o come back for more. Which is disappointing given the menu selection. Everything is in place for success there, but I can’t say you’re going to look at your bill at the end of the evening and feel that the meal justified it.

Great dinner and really cute restaurant if you are looking for something with character and charm! Everyone is our group loved our pasta dishes, the tomatoes and mozzarella was very fresh. Wonderful service! Would highly recommend if you are visiting ATL!
Really nice evening and dinner
The food was very good and for that area of Atlanta the prices were high but expected. We had cocktails that were prepared very well and elicited a lot of positive comments around the table. We did have an antipasti board that was very good with interesting tidbits we all enjoyed. The dinner entrees were interesting but not overboard. The veal chop was amazing according to the person who had ordered it. The veal scalapini was also enjoyed. The pasta dishes were not overwhelming in size and had very nice flavors. The only under performer was the roasted chicken. Dessert was fine, but not in the same caliber as the dinner entrees. Also, best to assume valet parking and not try street parking as it is very crowded. Also in your reservation make sure if you want to sit on the patio that you tell them. It fills fast.
Best Italian in atlanta
My friend and I have been trying to find the best Italian food. We have been trying since last year. So fair out of 19 places sotto sotto is number one! The pasta is made fresh daily. The sauces and light creamy and beyond lovely. Also save room for dessert they have real Italian desserts as well.
