Classy Place for Classy Folks!!
Absolutely fantastic food and service. A truly memorable dinner in a unique old Roman environment. Great for an upscale family dinner!
Be the first to ReplyThe place excellent and the service good
I had spaghetti con vongole yesterday and the vongole were two and very small! What a shame!!! The food of my husband was good! I expected so much more!
Be the first to ReplyArrogant staff. Who needs it?
Very arrogant staff so although the food was good (it should be for €185 for two people fur two courses - and this was after I told them to take the service off at the time I asked for the bill) We asked for the wine list several times and were just left ignored. I am a confident and actually quite wealthy person but they judged us by their own - whatever - standards as not worthy of their attention. Don’t bother going. We only went there as we were foolish not to have made a reservation anywhere else and it was the only restaurant that had a table.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t bother
Arrogant- don’t bother. This place used to be great 8 years ago but no longer. Unfortunately like much of Rome this is also no longer a place to go. It’s like an ancient ruin- ps the bathrooms are also very dirty. Not a good calling card!
Be the first to ReplyBad service and expensive
We were recommended this place by a Roman friend, but it did not live up to expectations in any way! Bad service and very expensive. The food was ok, but not more than that.
Be the first to ReplyVery poor value for money.
A cuisine not at all up to the prices charged: the worst pasta of our entire stay in Rome. The presentation and setting do not match the contents of the plates.
Be the first to ReplyA must in Rome.
We loved this place. Had been recommended by Roman friends, and is famous. It's understated chic, service was warm and friendly, the waiters brought me a birthday cake and they all sang Happy Birthday in Italian to me. A must.
Be the first to ReplyFish Fish Fish!
Server and Somme both very dynamic Like other places in Italy I never felt upsold in fact there was a tendency to suggest wine or menu item less expensive or to steer away from an item they didn’t think was that great. We had delicious langoustines and all our entrees were excellent. The spaghetti with clams were yummy.
Be the first to ReplyNot great
Unfortunately this was not the experience we had expected. Made to feel uncomfortable, far from welcoming! Food was ok, nothing to shout about. Very expensive and disappointing lunch.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional
I don't think we can add anything else to the history of this name. But we can certainly confirm that everything that is said around is true…the BEST restaurant in Rome!! Good, polite, good, friendly, and excellent food, from starters to desserts, fantastic wine list. Without words really, congratulations
Be the first to ReplyGreat variety of fish in a small square in the center of Rome
Well-frequented restaurant in a small square near Piazza Farnese. I recommend the Catalan prawns, the fried cappelletti, the octopus soppressata, the lobster packets, the vermicelli with clams and the fregola with razor clams and lemon. The cellar is excellent and the service is fast and attentive. The interior is a bit modern and there is a nice outdoor area.
Be the first to ReplyTotal disappointment
Whole scene. Banal, sloppy dishes, service like a tourist restaurant, prices like a starred restaurant. You only pay for the position.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelming Experience at Pierluigi
Upon arrival at Pierluigi, our anticipation was met with an immediate setback as our pre-booked reserved table was not ready. The 20-minute delay in seating, while somewhat forgivable in a bustling eatery, set a precedent for the evening's service and atmosphere that was less than ideal. Once seated, we found ourselves relegated to a cramped corner in the establishment's back room—a location that seemed more an afterthought than a premeditated dining space. This unfortunate positioning detracted from the ambience and made us feel disconnected from the main dining areas and, more importantly, the overall Italian experience we had envisioned. The service did little to uplift our spirits. Our waiter, displaying a distinctly nonchalant demeanour, attended to our needs with disinterest bordering on neglect. This lack of engagement was disappointing, as attentive service is a cornerstone of a memorable dining experience, particularly in establishments that aim to replicate the warmth and hospitality of an Italian trattoria. The culinary highlight of the evening, the pasta vongole, fell short of expectations. The dish, renowned for its succulent clams bathed in a savoury broth, was presented with clams so few and diminutive that they were lost amidst the pasta layered with the taste of starch. This deviation from the dish's hearty, sea-forward essence was a missed opportunity to redeem the evening's earlier missteps. Furthermore, the ambience was marred by a music soundtrack that failed to echo the authentic Italian trattoria experience. The pop music, dated and incongruous with the setting, failed to complement the culinary journey, instead serving as a discordant backdrop to an already disjointed experience. In conclusion, our visit to Pierluigi was marked by a series of disappointments—from the initial delay and seating arrangement to the lacklustre service and culinary offerings. While every restaurant can have an off night, I hope that Pierluigi can address these issues better to reflect the charming and vibrant spirit of Italian dining.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent restaurant worthy of its reputation, very nice, educated clientele, impeccable service, incredible food
Very good address, very chic, elegant, the varied menu, a special mention for the waiter Umberto, an emblematic figure of this restaurant who gave us good advice, the sunny terrace, the impeccable service, the perfect food, we make you what you want, can't wait to go back
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced and arrogant
We celebrated our son's (14) birthday and had already asked for streamers as decoration. Unfortunately, there was nothing like that to be seen. The place setting was fried pasta sheets or something similar with some kind of spread - it was not good. My husband had pasta (great fusilli) with porcini and black truffle, which was beyond reproach: price around 35 EUR. For the main course, 1.3 kg of Turbot al forno for 4 people for 160 EUR - the fish was excellent but the potatoes were not good and the olives were cheap. The service was overstaffed and only motivated by guests who you could see had money on their faces or women who belong to the see and be seen category.... There was definitely better food in the Mercato di Testaccio. A real shame for a bill of 330 euros with 2 glasses of wine and water.
Be the first to ReplyBest meal in Rome
My husband and I ate at Pierluigi on our last night in Rome and it did not disappoint. We started with pasta with langostinos in the most fabulous sauce. It was truly spectacular. Then we both had Sole meunière, which was absolutely out of this world. This is a special restaurant and a must go to in Rome.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
Absolutely disgraceful service, food and management!!! €450 for 3 starters and 3 mains. Mine sent back Don’t spend your hard earned cash!!! Disappointed
Be the first to ReplyStylish restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food
I was a little skeptical about this place based on some of the reviews and decided to go anyway. It did not disappoint! My party had the Sakura steak dinner for two which was flavorful and cooked perfectly. It comes with a bearnaise sauce and a parsley purée. The parsley purée is next level. They have a sommelier who helps you pair your wine based on your personal preference and dish ordered. The staff were friendly and attentive! For dessert, we had the Millefoille with white chocolate, sour cherries and tangerine ice cream which had the perfect amount of sweetness, crunch and tanginess from the tangerine ice cream. Although we ordered the steak, they have a good selection of fish and seafood options. I definitely would return.
Be the first to ReplyTake advantage of Americans.
I heard many recommendations for this place, and was very disappointed in the end. The ambience is fancy, maybe a little stuffy, and I went in expecting to pay a lot for a good meal. When I asked about which pasta was better, the waiter talked us into doing a half split of each. This was confusing and apparently he ordered both pastas, similar in taste and charged us a split fee which cost 80Euro total. They weren’t even that good. He didn’t put in our order for seafood, charged us for bread we didn’t order and brought out a second bottle of water when we didn’t need one. I left feeling very much taken advantage of and unsatisfied. I’m very upset about it.
Be the first to ReplyTourist Trap - Beware!!
Food was good but waiter was very pushy once he saw we were American tourists. He recommended very expensive fish dishes from raw bar and also recommended too much food for us. Shame on us for not pushing back but he was very good at up-selling dishes. So while food and wine and good, waiter ruined experience by taking advantage of us.
Be the first to ReplyA very comfortable fish establishment
This is a restaurant with a menu heavily slanted to shellfish. We ate tuna and the dish was excellent, service was prompt . Personally i would have preferred a larger selection of regular fish but my meal was good and i have no complaints. Would i come back? This is usually my test and i think i would knowing that for me the menu is limited.
Be the first to ReplyPoor service
As some other guests have described, the service was particularly awful towards tourists. I would avoid if you are visiting from outside of Italy as the unfriendly staff make for a poor experience - regardless of the food
Be the first to ReplyChic trattoria
Of course, we all want to land in that beautiful local place that no tourist has ever been to. Well, surely this place does not meet the latter since so many celebrities have visited it - so we were rather concerned to get into a “tourist trap”.
We were pleasantly surprised - not withstanding the social media and Conde Nast inspired new jetset the place still feels very local and offers a good quality seafood (even though I noticed also meat options on the menu - the exposed seafood upon entrance clearly makes a statement). I think the prices are very reasonable for Rome and the seafood was cooked with great respect to the produce. Notwithstanding the extensive wine list, it is always nice to see a variety of both budget and grander options (nice Barolo 15’ for around 90 EUR - quite a bargain). Artichoke roman style is a must.
Wonderful service, flexible attitude when ordering.
Wonderful service. Really good fish. Wonderful service. The servers were easy to work with as many main dishes were each requested to be slightly different. Calamari appetizers, shrimp dish, turbo filets, seafood carbonara, mixed grill fried fish, tiramisu, pineapple tartare all really good. Seven adults, much wine came to a little more than €700. Not cheap but wonderful meal. We ate outside in the sheltered dining area which was fine. Inside is elegant but not over the top. For a larger group the wine cellar is a good choice. This is a go-back vacation meal place for us. Reservations are a must.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic lunch
Spent a long lunch at PierLuigi & had a fantastic meal, the best while we were in Rome.
Oysters as a starter, lobster tagliatelle & langoustines, lamb rack & beef cheek for mains & fresh fruit.
Everything was cooked to perfection & was very good quality
We would not hesitate to re-visit if we are ever in Rome
