Always a must stop while in Portland.
Their brunch is always on point and delicious. The portions are huge! Their French toast is to die for. Nice and crunchy and flavorful. They are nice and heavy. The service was ok this time as they sat us in the back corner and the server cover many tables outside that section so it was hard to get their attention at time. We were sat down pretty quick for a Sunday morning brunch during prime hours which was nice. When the server was around the service great. The food did take a bit to come out but it was worth the wait

We came in for dinner and started with the chicken quesadilla, then the double down option of half mac and cheese and half pot roast. The caramelized onions in the quesadilla added a nice touch of sweetness and depth, while the pot roast was flavorful and tender, coming apart easily without the need for a knife. For dessert, we had the seasonal fruit cobbler, which was blueberry during our visit. It was absolutely delicious. Service was fast, and I also loved the thoughtful "Mother of the Month" feature on the menu!

Hello Mothers! I am glad I know ya! After visiting Art in the Pearl, we were hungry! Headed to Mother's for brunch. Loved it. Food was great as usual, they were slammed so service was slow. I had the lox and bagel plate. So generous, I took half home for tomorrow. My friend has the three meats omelet. Looked terrific. Will go back! Big windows, comfy seating and all.

Solid breakfast, brunch, lunch spot with a bright interior and a good amount of seating. I have been to Mother's a handful of times and appreciate their expansive menu and ability to fit larger groups. FYI You can make a reservation so if you want to avoid a crowd or really want to eat at a particular time, I would recommend it! The breakfast and lunch menu have a good variety of options for omnivores and vegetarians alike, and there are even a couple of vegan options. Last time, I grabbed a tofu hash which was actually rather tasty (though I will admitted I added cheddar cheese!). The tofu itself needed a bit more seasoning but with hot sauce, it was perfect. I have also tried their french toast which they really get a great crispy crunch on without the bread itself being tough or difficult to eat. I also have a definite hankering for their waffles at times. They have fun drinks -- cocktails, mocktails, juices - and daily specials that change with the seasons. All in a all good spot to check out with fair prices and friendly service! Fair warning, street parking in the area may be a bit difficult at peak hours.
Came here for lunch on a weekday with the family.
The ambiance is really nice - good decor, bright, feels classy. Our waitress was super friendly and made great recommendations for us. We got coffees that were good, a meatloaf sandwich (yum, though I would have preferred panini bread over basic white bread), basic breakfast (just ok), big omelette that was loved, and french toast that also was really enjoyed. To top things off, we also got a blackberry cobbler with ice cream that was great. Price seemed fair.

Food is great. Portobello mushroom is excellent. Parking is tight like most areas in Portland. There is paid parking available

Seasonal offerings. Ask about their Mocktail Menu. A great place for business or pleasure. Jesse was an awesome server who took great care of us. An upscale downtown Portland vibe. Parking wasn't bad either.
Come here every time I'm in town.
You can tell they care. Remind me of food from home. Only regret from my last visit is I got something simple and I didn't get dessert.

Love Mother's Bistro. Passing through Portland first time in 8 years, but remembered Mother's for being so good back in 2017. Had to go again and they did not disappoint. Great breakfast place. Too bad we left town; would have come back for lunch or dinner.
We trusted the name and was not disappointed
My wife and I went here for dinner after passing the restaurant the day before and decided to try it based upon the name and we liked what we saw on the menu; we were not disappointed. They serve comfort food made from scratch. There is a large menu and they are open for breakfeast, lunch, and dinner. In fact, at the hotel we were staying, the frontdesk staff recommended we go here for breakfast and skip the one at the hotel. I had the Mediterranean chicken bowl with jasmine rice, chickpeas, Israeli chopped salad and olives. It was tasy and nice-sized. The service was good.
Nice place, good specials
Cute little place. We ate in the bar and had the specials of the day which was a Greek Mac and cheese and a potatoes leek soup. Everything was tasty. We might go back.
Nice gathering spot for families and friends
We were staying in the adjoining hotel and kept seeing how many people were always seated, so we thought we’d stop in. The staff was very nice. The restaurant is large and has simple decor, nothing unusual. Our food was good, but nothing out of this world. I’m not sure that I *need* to return, but I could see myself gathering here with friends or family for brunch.
Very pleasant experience
We found this restaurant by accident. We walked by and saw happy people inside and decided to give it a try. We've been back twice in 3 days. We had a nice breakfast the first time. They offer half orders of biscuits and gravy and french toast. The mimosa is great. The blackberry peach sorbet is memorable. The restaurant is very clean. The staff is a real team.

We went for breakfast and it was amazing. The food was delicious and the variety of different types of dishes was great. Highly recommend.
Wonderful food and service
We have been eating at this wonderful restaurant for over 16 years. The food is absolutely delicious and made with love. The service is always great. We go as often as we can and the recognition from the staff and owner makes us feel very special. The owner, Lisa, does so much for the community. When in Portland, go to this very special place and make reservations! You will not be sorry.
Great space, delicious French toast
Located on a street close to some hotels (and a Voodoo donuts location), it was a convenient location. We were seated at a very comfy booth/table. We came on the late side for brunch on a weekday and the service was outstanding. The standout food was the French toast. We also had the breakfast nachos hash (a little greasy, slightly disappointing). Pierogis were awesome. The elderflower sparkler was very nice. I would definitely go back for lunch and try the matzah ball soup.

Someone please give away ear plugs! So loud and felt like a Dennys. Whats the hype? Whats so special about this place? Maybe the fact there is no competition? Waited 30 minutes for a table to be at Dennys and host has such a bad attitude. Dude, you are in Portland not nyc. When in Portland skip Mother’s Bistro

The food was good the portion size was good The staff were all very good It was easy to find We did get harassed by a junkie outside the restaurant who would not go away until we went in I was denied access to the toilet at the end of the meal not sure why I would recommend this restaurant good atmosphere and good food

We grabbed a 9am rez to beat the rush and really enjoyed our time. The best part was an indulgent meal profile, but they offered half portions. It was the perfect amount to leave satisfied! I had the salmon hash & my two friends had challah French toast and Greek frittata. Merch was cute too!

Make sure you come early because there can be a wait! I believe reservation is only for dinner. I was here for breakfast and I came at 9:30am and the wait was about 20 mins which wasn't bad. The wild salmon hash was my favorite and the stuffed frittata was not bad as well. Lots of people recommended the French toast which I think was standard but the cornflake cover did give it a slight edge over other French toast. Ask your server for their homemade jam for your toast and also use it for the French toast which made it much better. The omelette of the day was just ok for me, nothing too special.

I was in Portland for only a few hours and was lucky enough to attend a food and beverage tasting event that included a Mother's Bistro table featuring a panna cotta dessert topped with fresh raspberry sauce. WOW, one of the BEST desserts I have ever tasted!! I will definitely be coming back to Portland to dine here.

The service was great as we were told a 10 minute wait on a holiday but were seated within 5 minutes. Our hostess was very kind. The restaurant is really big and super cute. I had the omelet of the day and I cannot remember what it was, but it had sausages in it and it was great. The potatoes were delicious. The corned beef hash was amazing and not greasy at all with great flavor. The waffle was shared between my party and was a perfect dessert side for all of us, the whipped cream was so good.

Had a wonderful experience with a large party. Server was great, food was delicious, chocolate cake was amazing. Server was able to split our checks for each group within minutes even though she said it would probably take 20-30 minutes.

Because it was near my lodging accommodations, I tried this place twice. The chicken and dumplings was weird for me, and I'm a southerner. I give them a 3. The sauce was more like a gravy, but the chicken and 2 large round dumplings had good flavor. My house salad was perfect though. I dined in that time, and the service was great! The second time, I ordered a burger and added bacon and cheese. This, I picked up, to go. The burger was good, but lacked the bacon I paid extra to have. The fries looked, felt, and tasted like they'd been waiting hours, for someone to order them. Had they not closed shortly after I picked up, I would have returned both. I doubt that I will return, but it was ok.
Seems fancy but is not pretentious.

The wild salmon hash has was an unforgettable experience.
If you're not sure about eating seafood for brunch then let me convince you to try this! It tastes better than it looks. The creamy potatoes mixed with the chunks of salmon, combined with your egg of style and toast was perfection! I can tell from the quality of the food that they really do make their stuff from scratch here. My friend and I also shared a Belgian waffle and it was definitely one of the best waffles I've ever had and the perfect portion size to share with two people! The syrup wasn't even necessary since the waffle itself was so delicious. The service was really friendly and we were checked in on very often (with multiple coffee refills!). Be sure to put a reservation in since this place is popular even earlier in the morning around 10ish. The place is huge inside and has a glam vibe to it but it still felt very home-y at the same time. I can't wait to come back!

We got tofu hash (half), Mike's scramble, blueberry pancake, Belgian waffle with strawberries and side of bacon. It seems as though they are known for their strawberries, as they were super fresh and they offer freshly made jam too. Bacon was a bit too salty, potatoes a bit too oily, and toast had a bit too burnt. Despite these, the flavor was definitely there, the service was exceptional, and the vibes inside were super home-y. I recommend coming here for a great breakfast in Portland.

Very nice atmosphere. Not too crowded at dinner. Very good Strawberry salad with salmon. Customer service a plus and grab a cookie on the way out!
Very nice place in a world of hurt
Meh. Don’t go here for dinner. After you wade through the homeless people cussing at you, the restaurant is very nice. But I can make better chicken and dumplings and meatloaf, and I don’t cook. I can’t believe this place is rated #9 in Portland. I assume this is for breakfast/brunch? If you are not staying at the hotel here, I would just stay away. The Portland mayor and his staff really need to get something done here. I have been paying a lot of money on new taxes to fix the “homeless problem”. And what did they do? They sent me a huge content free very expensive pamphlet. What a waste of my money. WHAT ARE YOU ACTUALLY DOING TO HELP THESE PEOPLE????

we cycled downtown yesterday wanting to show love for the region that gets a bad rap......we sat at the bar and i had a mimosa, and my partner had the mimosa with pomegranite juice...next, i had the special goats cheese omelette with red potatoes and whole wheat toast, and she had the one half ordier of wild salmon hash and one half order of a pancake.....the food is always excellent, the ambiance so relaxing, and the staff are so great....we have nice conversations with the staff, saying we love mothers and wish more would come downtown and give the city some love.....we also, picked up trash for earth day today...thx so much....

I have heard great things about Mother's for years, it's a favorite brunch spot for some friends and family who live in Portland. My husband and I were in town with another couple and I convinced them that Mother's would be a fantastic dinner choice for a Sunday evening. The decor and atmosphere were wonderful, our server was a delight. The food was simply mediocre. Our table had the $15,000 crabcakes, dry and flavorless, and the tiny bit of accompanying mustard sauce did nothing to enhance them. The other appetizer we had, a pulled pork quesadilla was limp and oily and bland. The pot roast was pretty good, but certainly not exceptional. The fish of the day special was the best thing we tasted, fresh and simple. I wonder if it was an off night, a Sunday, but those crab cakes were so disappointing I don't think any night could have been that far off. If you can't always have good Dungeness for your dishes, don't have it on the regular menu!
Kid friendly with amazing key lime pie.
We ate here for lunch today. The place is HUGE! We were able to wait comfortably during the short wait to get our table and our youngest enjoyed playing in the children’s area. We were seated and had a hard time choosing from the amazing menu. We ended up with Rueben Egg rolls, Irish Nachos, Corn beef Hash and our kids had plain buttered pasta (fan favorite) and macaroni and cheese. We ended with kids sundaes and the key lime pie. I will never forget that key lime pie. Amazing service and we enjoyed our window view.
Simply Great Experience
Attached to our hotel, so it was very convenient when we had just pulled into town after a long trip. Reuben was fantastic, although their 1000 Island dressing was a little too strong with onions for my taste. Kids had their mac n cheese and all were happy. The desserts, chocolate cake and a chocolate cream pie, were really good. The service was absolutely outstanding. We ended up eating here multiple times during our stay. Very well done!

So, I dug into my food and then remembered that my mother really wasn't a great cook. She was ok, with some good dishes. Hah. Good solid meal to be had here, just not wonderful. Convenient to the hotel, but don't think I would come downtown for this?

Extensive brunch menu with all items ordered by our party were delicious and ample. Service was attentive and friendly despite being quite busy. Salmon hash was especially wonderfully. A great place for brunch in downtown Portland.
Beef Short Ribs
Just off the grand lobby of the Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Portland, Mother's Bistro and Bar is a great choice for a five-star meal at a reasonable price. Cocktails are very nice--I got a delicious martini. The menu offers a wide variety of starters and main dishes, including beef short ribs. I come from the Chesapeake Bay area, so I'm sort of a sea food snob and turn my nose up at crab cakes any farther than 50 miles from the Bay, but next time I'm at Mother's, I will try the Dungeness crab cakes. I trust Mother's. Tasty food, a fine atmosphere, and excellent service make this restaurant a reliable go-to that will not break the bank.

3.) Finding the Reservation
* ElaborateHouse74 now uses their connections at Mother's Bistro & Bar Portland to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If ElaborateHouse74 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, ElaborateHouse74 receives the $200 reward which is credited to ElaborateHouse74's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
