Maya Bay Monaco Reviews
Good food and Vibe
Great food and ambience! The service was excellent and the menu is extensive, literally a book, with plenty of choices. We tried the fish curries, and they were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Overall, a wonderful experience.
Great food in great atmosphere with excellent service
Fantastic lunch and fantastic service cannot fault it - I would strongly recommend it as an experience for anyone interested in Asian fusion in Monaco
Amazing food, great service - overall excellent experience.
Each dish had so many flavours. I had black cod gyozas for starter, turbot for main and aubergine as side dish - best gyozas I ever had and trust me I love gyozas in general but these ones were on a different level. Turbot had so many flavours and went very well with aubergine. Dessert was delicious too. It was a bit quiet in restaurant and a few empty tables so maybe atmosphere could be better. Service was impeccable. We are definitely coming back!
The place to experience @ 8 pm
Second year at the place - energy on a Sunday night is different. The restaurant’s ambiance and food is excellent. The hostesses, beautiful smile, welcoming, but says one thing and cannot execute - we were seated at a really pretentious guys talking *** - says to his 10 year daughter, honey try this / just take a slip of this sake: couldn’t believe my ears. Wasn’t going to sit next him and his business partner; the hostesses - after my firm yet determined second request to move us (which they said and then, came back and said A oh so sorry - which didn’t sit well) -at these high end - it’s about trust, integrity, and honesty. The kitchen is exceptional / the drinks first class / service exceptional - my recommendation - the menu looks like a picture Bible / start with something light and freshing - thai salad / some roti, and whatever your other enjoys / then build some sashimi/ sushi - rolls / if you need a vegan - request a vegetarian futomaki- they’ll know your request - it’s off menu - /main course - the wagu is full of flavor / the Thai fish / can’t go wrong — do some saki 45 (300 ml), plus some wine- you’ll impress and have a great experience - expect about $600 to 700 (I added 10% to the bill - it’s not necessary, but I wanted to encourage and say thank you.)
Amazing place - amazing food
Well, what to say...probably the best thai fusion restaurant ever been. Quality of the raw fish was another level - very good Pad Thai - great cocktail bar and incredible location. This place in Monaco is a MUST!
Deaf personal, very bad service, staff dont pay attention,
Deaf personal, very bad service, staff dont pay attention, asked 2 soup , just one soup came, ammereto no ice, came with ice etc etc , service very slow, the manager was not here today, but he should, food was amazing though , but service was totally not acceptable
Great service and food.
If you haven't been to Monaco ya gotta go. Wow! These people live a bot different. Bit of the hills of California mixed with vegas and Tuscany. Beautiful! Oh yea guys have to wear slacks
INCREDIBLE THE PLACE TO BE
Superb establishment, impeccable service and attentive staff. From the reception to the room, everyone was welcoming! I recommend this restaurant with my eyes closed!! Their Wagyu Tacos are delicious, and the mochis are worth trying too.
To avoid
I am sorry to say that my recent experience at MAYA BAY restaurant to celebrate my partner's birthday was disappointing to the highest degree. This was by far the worst and poorest dining experience of my life. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by terrible service, far from intimate. The servers seemed more interested in their conversations with each other than in our satisfaction. After ordering water, we waited for it all evening with no luck. However, the height of disappointment lies in the quality of the dishes. We opted for a langoustine dish for two at a price of €400. Not only did the dish lack refinement and presentation for this price, but it was also simply inedible. It was sour, with a strong ammonia smell, making the taste experience unpleasant. Faced with this situation, we expressed our dissatisfaction to a waiter, but no alternative solution was offered to us. We expected to be offered to either redo the dish or choose something else, but none of that happened. The waiter just cleared the table, practically urging us to leave. So we made the decision to leave the restaurant and have dinner elsewhere. The height of absurdity is that we were still charged for the dish we had sent back to the kitchen, which is unacceptable. In summary, I strongly do not recommend MAYABAY restaurant to anyone looking for an enjoyable and satisfying dining experience. The quality of the dishes leaves something to be desired, the service is mediocre and the lack of consideration for customer satisfaction is blatant.
Outstanding classy evening
In looking for a special meal for our group of friends Mayabay came up as a great option for an up and coming restaurant. They don't yet have a Michelin star but based on our experience I think it is just a matter of time before they do. Mayabay is a Thai and Japanese fusion restaurant. So it is not just sushi nor your standard thai dishes. They have an endless array of options mixing the two cuisines. Ambience is great with two small dining rooms with japanese and thai decoration. There are some beautiful chandeliers, fresh plants, and a lovely garden view. Seating areas are a little tight and if the restaurant is full you can expect a high level of ambient noise. It was not completely full when we went but that was on a Monday evening. The menu is not a menu - it is a novel. It is a 115 page book complete with a bookmark so you can remember something you looked at and liked. Almost every dish has about a half page picture with descriptions on what you would be eagting. We were initially overwhelmed so the server recommended a variety of things we could try as starters and share. That sounded like a great idea to us as we continued to look into what we wanted for mains. And the starters were incredible. There was something for everyone and something one person didn't care for - another person loved. Drink options were endless but again the server suggested a custom house made drink with champagne and lychee and that was mind blowingly delicious. After that others in our party ordered other drinks and they were equally as impressed. Given my early flight the next day I stopped with alcohol and decided on soft drinks. We ordered and our mains came. Delicious doesn't even begin to describe them. One person in our party ordered the Tiger Tears and when I tried that I would have preferred the beef being not so well done. But this review is based on MY main which was a delicious thai lobster dish and it was an explosion of flavors. The server was endlessly professional and available when we needed him - though he was clearly very busy. Other servers also assisted and if you had a need it was simple to ask someone nearby and they would take care of you. I see some other reviews were not happy with the service but that certainly wasn't my experience. I enjoyed the service and the staff very much and they were happy to joke with us and have a good time with what they were doing. I'm always glad to see a happy staff, that tells me they are taken care of by the management. And the finishing touch was we asked if they could call us a cab to the train station after our delicious meal. Their response was "sure, get in". Mayabay has their own courtesy car which can take you where you need to go after your incredible experience. My first time in an Aston Martin SUV and it was a great luxury ride.
Mayabay Montecarlo
This very nice place is absolutely to be avoided, both for the disorganization, the delay, the poor customer care and for the prices and expectations created by the continuous emails that talk about clothing, punctuality and fine in case of cancellation more than 24 hours before ,when then there is no care for people so none of the staff is even capable of calling a taxi to go back to the hotel. We ordered the pad tai which was downright disgusting, I personally wasn't able to eat it after tasting it. Very good wine, decent dessert, I woke up hungry. Absolutely not recommended.
Excellent!
Excellent in everything: staff, sublime food (tuna tartare), incredible wine list... in short, an evening to remember
miserable table
very nice place, top service. the staff is very kind and helpful. Well prepared and cared for dish, when it comes to price, if you come to Monte Carlo you don't have to worry about it. Discordant note and here credibility is lost, there are 3 of us (with reservations) and they make us sit at a skimpy table that already fit 2 people. this is not acceptable!! lean figure of the restaurant
A little discovery and pleasure for the taste buds
A real pleasure for the taste buds.. From the entrance, a staff to welcome us, a real anthill, it's moving, and it's responsive and attentive.. Very elaborate and beautiful setting, from the walls to the furniture everything is thought of... Perhaps a little too tight depending on the location of the tables and the passage for service.. The menu book, a very good idea to see what the different dishes offered look like. . The contents of our plates were very nicely presented and above all very good.. A real pleasure, we will go and discover other countries where they are also established..
A lovely restaurant for a fresh tasty meal
We walked to the Maya bay restaurant from our hotel , were welcomed and seated very quickly . We were offered edamame beans with our glass of champagne and they were delicious. It a very nicely decorated space with an eastern theme that includes very clever tables that have cherry blossoms as decoration . The menu is in the form of a book where if you are interested in something there is a page number where you can see a photo of the dish . It has English under all the French descriptions. I am not a sushi lover but I really enjoyed the tempura avo and prawn sushi that I chose and it is a very generous serving . Our main courses were also very tasty and well presented - a chicken “ curry pie”for want of a better description and a prawn curry were enjoyed by my husband and I . We shared some mango sorbet and the bill at the end was reasonable . Thank you for a lovely meal .
Alright
Exotic restaurant with Thai-Japanese cuisine. Impeccable service Slightly kitsch decor The business lunch is excellent value for money.
Magnificent Asian Restaurant
Very simple and pleasant reservation by telephone. Upscale Asian restaurant with magnificent decoration and a very elaborate menu. I'll start with our server: Misha: thank you for everything, smile, sober, efficient, knows the menu very well, listens...don't change a thing, you're perfect. As for the meal menu with very original and excellent compositions, great desserts....but that's not all during the week a menu for less than €30 (3 courses) really excellent, very well cooked. An upscale Asian restaurant that reminded us of Tattu in Manchester. We will return there for sure. And we will ask to be on Misha's service line. Thank you to the entire Maya Bay team for this delicious lunch and your welcome. Fabian
Fusion and confusion
We had no reservation but arrived rather early and were offered seats at the bar. I don’t mind that at all, it was actually quite nice and one of the sushi chefs was really nice to talk to. By judging from the pictures there may be more rooms further inside, that I do not know. The menu looks a bit over whelming in size. That is due to that they have pictures of all the dishes. Unclear why. The menu is a little bit of this and that but all asian style, including sushi. The cheviche (which indeed is Peruvian) was excellent. They asked me if I wanted 3,4 or 5 which to me is a strange question. Turned out that it was served on a fried piece of something. I had asked for 3 which was enough for a starter. Ove ett all friendly and efficient service. Good food and price level as can be expected.
More than a perfect visit
Great atmosphere, excellent service and extremely delicious food. Even if you are not a fan of Asian cuisine , you will become one after going at the restaurant Big Thank you Maya bay !
Outstanding Food, Service and Ambience
Just an incredible evening. Delicious food and excellent service in a wonderful atmosphere. Is this the best restaurant in Monaco…quite probably!!!
Charming Setting, Underwhelming Sushi
Maya Bay in Monte Carlo boasts a beautiful and welcoming atmosphere. The decor and ambiance set the stage for what one would expect to be a premium dining experience. However, the sushi offerings fell short of expectations, especially considering the price point. While the presentation was appealing, the quality and taste of the sushi didn’t match up, leaving much to be desired. On a positive note, the service was excellent - attentive, friendly, and efficient. Overall, Maya Bay shines in hospitality but needs to elevate its sushi game to truly impress.
Simply the best restaurant I’ve ever been to.
The best dining experience I’ve ever had. A must visit in Monaco. Superb food, amazing hospitality, ambiance, it has it all.
Fancy Asian food restaurant located right by Le Meridian
Fancy Asian food restaurant located right by Le Meridian hotel. We enjoyed our experience. A bit pricey but the service and ambience was excellent. The place gets quite busy during dinner service so beware, it could get a bit loud. But all the staff makes you feel welcomed as soon as you entered. For drinks, get their sake. Excellent quality. House wine was okay for the price. For food, I'd recommend only sushi. A+. Go with their roll or nigiri. Delicious, fresh, simple. Skip the miso soup. It was butchered; no miso flavor at all. Thai food was okay ... C rated. we ordered pad thai and spicy beef salad. It was a bit salty and Americanized and not true to authentic Thai. Dessert was SOOOOO DELICIOUS. A+++. I'd highly recommend the lychee almond cream pie/tarte. Every bite was balanced between slight sweetness, freshness, and creaminess. For two people with food and drinks (sake and a glass of wine), bill was about $200.
Ridiculously small tables
And ridiculously large menu in the form of a book. Way too unwieldy to enjoy at such a small table. Food was ok but have had better at other Asian restaurants in Monaco
Excellent Restaurant.
Everything was Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. The food was soooo good, the service was very nice too, Overall 100. Best resto in monaco.
