We live in Boston and would highly recommend this restaurant. Luis was amazing. He was friendly, professional, and just the right amount of checking in. We did not feel rushed at any point and truly appreciate that. So many are rushing you lately to turn the tables. The homemade daily fresh pasta rivals what we had when in Italy last fall. Thank You for a lovely evening in your beautiful outdoor area.

There are so many choices in the north end but this one needs to be on your list. I had made a reservation on a Friday night for 6:30 but our train from NY was running an hour and a half late so I called to see if I could move the reservation and they totally accommodated it. It was my cousins birthday so I was so relieved. The restaurant is so cute! It was 2 stories and had a beautiful patio area as well. We were seated on the second floor and it was so nicely decorated. We ordered a red bottle of wine and I placed our food order below. Pasta is made from scratch and the menu changes constantly so they don't do "specials". Complimentary fresh bread with pesto (no nuts for anyone with allergies) that was outstanding. Beef carpaccio- so nice with tangy capers, bitter arugula and fresh Parmesan slices. The meat was so fresh. All the flavors were great. Burrata with croutons. Creamy yumminess! Lobster pasta- holy cow. The sauce was super light and the pasta was stuffed with huge chunks of lobster. It was AMAZING! I ate every bite! 2 types of pasta- one was a tortellini and one was a ravioli. One had meat and one had veggies. My husband really enjoyed it and cleaned his plate! Rabbit pasta- our friend had not had it before but loved it. He said the pasta was amazing. Rustic pasta- my cousin absolutely loved it. She said the red sauce was so flavorful and the pasta was so fresh. Since it was my cousins birthday, they gave her a dessert and it said happy birthday in cinnamon. It was gorgeous and the dessert was very tasty. Our server was lovely and we had a great time. I would recommend this phenomenal restaurant and can't wait to come back to Boston so we can come back here! Sorry no pics but please know the dishes were as beautiful as they were tasty.

A pretty cute restaurant tucked in an unassuming place in North End. Came for a celebratory dinner with some friends and the service was pretty amazing. I got one of their signature dishes, the osso bucco, which is one of their signature dishes and will not come off the menu. It was really good but a bit rich for me. I am generally also not a big fan of risotto but can tell if people like this dish!
Awesome time.
This restaurant is a must in Boston. The outdoor dining area is awesome, it was a muggy night so we ate inside. So elegant, cozy and romantic. Wait staff was terrific, wine selection was perfect. Both appetizers and dinners were spot on and DELICIOUS!

Authentic Italian cuisine. The only issue is we sat upstairs and it was a little warm. BIG menu and a lot to choose from. Food and service was great!!

Went here for a second birthday dinner! Service was amazing and showed us dishes as they came out to give us an idea of what looked good. We started with bison gnocchi and the melons with prosciutto, bison is a must have. Then we got osso bucco and the rabbit pasta. Rabbit pasta was decent, overrated but the osso bucco.. damn now that was a dish! Just look at the picture attached :). Restaurant was elegant but no dress code requirement! (Would stay away from shorts tho)
Perfection
This is one of the best Italian restaurants anywhere. The food, service and ambience were perfect. The hostess was lovely and helpful. Our server was excellent - - knowledgeable, efficient and pleasant. And the food was extraordinary. Be sure to make a reservation.

I've never had a bad meal at Mamma Maria and I've been coming here for years. The services, food and ambiance are all divine. I wish I branched out more but I always end up getting their rabbit pasta dish. It's a house favorite!

First and foremost, it was disappointing to arrive with two bottles of outstanding Napa Valley wine only to find out you can no longer bring your own wine. Apparently this was a recent change and you can no longer BYOB Other than that, the food was superb. Service was a little slow for what I am accustomed to. It was a really good experience, but one that I probably will not repeat while I'm here in Boston.

Amazing food in the North End
While wandering around the North End looking for a good spot for Italian food we happened across Mamma Maria's and was excited to dine on the patio on a beautiful spring day. Our server, Christopher G was awesome! He took the time to explain many of the menu items and even make some drink recommendations. All four of us ordered something different and no one was disappointed. I had the Veal Cotoletta and my wife had scallops with risotto both were great. Amazing food all around. Looking forward to our next trip to the city so we can go back.
Fantastic experience
Exceptional food, service and atmosphere. We made an effort to try a great sampling of the menu and truly everything is fantastic. The staff is so on it and always comes at the right time to see what you need and how you are doing. The restaurant is in the most amazing setting on a little square in the North End.
Pasto Perfetto
Would highly recommend experiencing what this fine dining restaurant has to offer. Family came here after Harvard commencement and it exceeded our expectations. Both the service and food were impeccable. Table ordered the house's signature dishes. I had the baked clams and osso buco. The veal was velvety soft and married perfectly with a medium-bodied Chardonnay. Barely tasted the tannins. The entree was cooked perfectly in terms of moistness and texture. Waiter was very professional. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat on the second floor in a smaller area with many windows. It made the meal feel more intimate despite being in a popular, well-trafficked restaurant. Based on the service and quality of the meal, we felt it perfectly matched the occasion.
Beautiful dinner
Phenomenal experience. Our server was great and the food was outstanding. I got the pasta duo and my boyfriend got the suckling pig. We shared the gnocchi boar appetizer. Didn’t waste a bite. Wine pours were generous. Can’t wait to go back.

Seated upstairs on a busy night. Excellent service, wonderful food. Drinks generous and good wine selection. We had a child with us and they were very accommodating.
An Italian Treat
I was a little bit worried as I didn’t think the reception upon arrival was the warmest but this place is fantastic - our service was perfect, really attentive and helpful and the food was fantastic! Lobster ravioli was probably the best pasta dish I’ve ever eaten - cooked to perfection with generous and tasty filling - would love to go back!
Great dinner experience
This was a very pleasant dining experience from start to finish. We made reservations and were promptly seated at our time of arrival. Very nice atmosphere, elegant but not too formal and nicely decorated. Our waiter was fun to deal with, easy going, knowledgeable about the menu and very courteous. Food was excellent and also the wine / beverage list was extensive. Will come back for sure next time we are in town.

Oustanding Dining Experience in Boston
We ate here in March 2024 for my wife's birthday and it was a superb experience. The service was attentive without being overbearing and the food was execptional and the chef did not scrimp on portions. I would recommend anyone visiting Boston to pay a visit.
Fabulous food
Food was amazing. Highly recommend!!! Service was super fast - it felt like our food was out very quickly after ordering. We were a party of 9 - and everyone loved their meal. Perfect size too. I got the eggplant parm and loved it. Cesar salad looked amazing too.
I sat upstairs at a four top bar.
It felt like a private room in my bartender was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. I went with his recommendations which were the rabbit pasta and lobster pasta. Both of these dishes have been on their menu for over 40 years, it was my first time trying rabbit and it was tender and juicy. I would compare the rabbit to dark meat chicken. I felt like family when dining at Mamma Mariah and will definitely be back to Bostons north end.

Perfection
Amazing!! Food was a 10, service was a 10++. We hope to have many excuses to come back. Our waitress Emmer (sorry if miss spelling) worked here for 8+ years.. fun, professional, totally excelled our expectations. We will remember this forever!!
The Only Mistake We made this trip was Not Coming HERE every night!!
Osso Bucco was a house specialty! It was an enormous portion and the meat fell off the bone! I ordered Lobster Agnilotti another Excellent meal! The food was so Amazing!! It just doesn’t matter what you order it will be good here!! All fresh ingredients & homemade pastas. The pesto sauce for the bread is out of this world! Finally cannoli in a tea cup was the perfect end to our meal!! Excellent I really can’t say enough about this restaurant!

Mamma Maria, doesn't have a slogan yet, but it should. By far the best meal in the North End. If a restaurant changes their menu daily, it's a good sign. There's no messing around here, so don't even think about stepping foot on this hallowed ground if you're not locked in. Sublime, transcendent, and incandescent are words I use to describe my own basketball skills, but they fit here as well. We had the Lobster Agnolotti to start and I had the Venison prepared two ways. Never had venison, don't even know what it is, but it was absolutely delicious. Thanks for reading, I appreciate each and every one of my loyal fans.

It was on my list for a while and I'm glad we decided to finally try it! The restaurant is small but very beautiful. It clean, quiet and aesthetically pleasing. I got the lobster ravioli and I loved it. Would love to try the other dishes on the menu soon!

Food was so fresh and delicious. Eric the server was great, and the entire staff + manager were very professional. We got a few appetizers, pastas, a main, and a dessert. Plus some wine and an amaro. Couldn't have been better.

The prosciutto & fig app was delicious as was the carpaccio. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Waiter was attentive and pleasant. Highly recommend.

Outstanding dinner
I had first been to Mamma Maria a few years ago for a wedding rehearsal dinner and remembered that it was very good. I was determined to go again and got a reservation with family for the week of Thanksgiving. The meal was outstanding. I had the pasta con sugo which I think is the best pasta I've ever had. The appetizers and desserts were also enjoyable. The restaurant is packed with tables and gets very loud. That is the only downside of the eating here.
Wonderful restaurant!
This is our favorite restaurant in Boston, and after another visit last night, they again did not disappoint. We were given a lovely corner table and although the place was very busy it felt warm, cozy and comfortable. Noise level was fine. As usual, the service was spot on and the food as good as ever! I had told them it was my birthday and they brought out delicious dessert complete with a candle! Mamma Maria, you really made my birthday dinner a delight and very memorable. We will definitely be back next time we are in Boston.
Marvelous Mamma Maria!
Great time dining at Mamma Maria. Loved the ambience, felt like a truly neighborhood restaurant and the food was amazing. When they told me some recipes hadn’t changed in 30 years, I was amazed but now I see why! Definitely will visit if I return to Boston.
Staff issues
I would have rated this place 3 or 4 stars overall, except for the incident with our waiter. Food is fine, some of the appetizers were very good and the atmosphere was great. Staff, in general is not friendly but not rude either. We got there on time for our reservation and were told our table is not ready and were asked to leave the restaurant and wait outside or go to another place across the street, I find this weird. When I got my dinner it was the wrong dish. I told the waiter that and he repeated three times, after I told him that I did not order this dish, “this is the one your ordered”. I finally asked him to stop arguing with me because “I know what I ordered” and that’s when he offered to bring me my other dish (which I declined since the party in our table all got their orders). He could have simply said: sorry I did not hear you well (place is loud), or there was a mix up, or any number of responses, instead he kept insisting that’s the dish that I ordered. Mistakes happen, I understand that, but the way he handled it was very irritating.

A nice and cozy Italian restaurant with helpful staff. The coffee from a pod machine was unexpected and not that very Italian but otherwise ok.
Dining at its Finest
Two of us truly enjoyed a delicious meal and excellent service at Mamma Maria. The lobster Agnolotti (3 large ravioli-like portions) and the Mushroom Pasta were absolutely delicious! They had a nice selection of wines to pair with our meal. Excellent food and service!

It is very charming and a great spot for a romantic date night. The service is great! I would recommend the osso buco. There are also great dessert options. The service is A+!!

Came here for a late Valentine's Day dinner and Mama Maria did not disappoint. The atmosphere is exactly what I expected; very homey and romantic. We started with the Pork Two Ways which was pretty good. The meatballs were juicy but i wished there was more of a crisp on the pork belly. We got the Pasta con Sugo and the Beef dish. The pasta noodles were the best texture and the ragu sauce was cheesy and meaty. The beef was cooked to perfect with a delicious mushroom sauce. The Tiramisu was the perfect end to our night.

Our plane landed in Boston and 30 minutes later we were walking through the doors of Mamma Maria's. It was nighttime and the location was my first sight of Boston and it did not disappoint. This restaurant was the idea I had in my mind of a true Italian restaurant in the city. It's located in what appeared to be an old house. After talking to the host we were led up the narrow stairs to the small and intimate second floor dining room. Our service was prompt and they were very attentive throughout the night. The food however just wasn't at all what I was expecting. It was good but I felt like everything was lacking flavor. The pictures on Yelp told a different story, but after a week spent in Boston we found that there are better Italian restaurants in the surrounding area. Overall I don't think I would return but it was still a positive first impression of the wonderful city of Boston.

Had a great night at Mamma Maria! We went here to celebrate my birthday. Our meal started with freshly baked bread and a pesto spread and a side of olives. For appetizers we ordered the winter salad and the pork two ways. Then we had the rabbit pasta and the clam and scallop pasta, both served with freshly cracked pepper and grated Parmesan cheese. With the birthday dessert we also got espressos which was a great end to the meal. Overall great ambiance. The walls are covered with an incredible wallpaper - gave us White Lotus vibes. The guests next to us were extremely loud but that was of course out of the restaurant control. Would recommend this place to anyone and would definitely return!

I came here last night for a friend's birthday and the food as absolutely phenomenal. She made a week-of reservation and was able to grab an 8pm reservation. Upon entering, they offer coat check. The ambiance inside was nice and quiet, with light music playing in the background. The restaurant was well lit, which I enjoyed (sometimes restaurants are way too dark inside ). The bread served was undoubtedly freshly baked and cut - very nice and fluffy. It was paired with a generous amount of olives and extremely delicious pesto! We asked for more of everything because of how delicious it was. I personally ordered the Pasta Con Sugo. The noodles were perfectly chewy and firm - I really loved the thickness of it. There was a great meat to sauce ratio. I also loved how the noodles stayed hot due to the way it was served / plated. Definitely would come again! Great place to celebrate a birthday or go on a date.

My favorite North End restaurant
If you are looking for a special dinner out in the North End you can’t beat Mamma Maria. It has it all. Ambiance, excellent food and drink, and outstanding service and hospitality. As someone that’s been to almost all of the restaurants in the North End and has a food tour of the neighborhood that I hav e been running for 10 years, I can say that it’s really the best on all accounts, including best space and location in beautiful North Square.

We had been once before for our anniversary and the experience was fantastic from the food to the service to the ambiance. Well, it was not the case this time... it was literally one disappointment after the next.It all started with the valet. We pulled the car up and I was rushed out of my car. I nearly hit a car passing by with the door because one of the valets was telling me to hurry up. At the same time, my husband was talking to the other valet to understand if we paid before or after. He clarified that it was pay in advance. We then asked if it was cash only and he said "yeah, let's try with cash and if not you can go to the ATM." OK so cash only... good thing we brought some cash just in case.When we walked into the restaurant, the maitre d and coat check attendant were very friendly and welcoming. We were allowed to sit at the table despite us only being 2 of the 4 on our reservation (also great because it was definitely too cold to be waiting outside). We were handed menus that were different than the menu we reviewed online.Once at the table, we waited at least 10 min to give a drink order. Our waitress Maria was knowledgeable and able to help me pick out a red wine that I ended up liking. My husband ordered Peroni.When the other two members of our party arrived, they waited just as long. In general, the theme of the night was waiting. We waited another 15 min for our appetizers after ordering and at least 45 min for our entrees. Our waitress wasn't around often enough for us to order as extra drink while waiting. No one walking by seemed bothered by us sitting there with no food and drink for awhile. Well, the bus boy was attentive and did fill our water glasses a few times.For appetizers, we got the baked oysters, a meatball skewer and sausage pasta. To me, the oysters was the best part of the whole meal. The pasta was fine and the Polpetti was very good. We finally got bread AFTER the appetizers came and it was not warm like some of the other reviews alluded to. It was simply some slices of wheat bread and it sat there uneaten. I did enjoy a few olives. That was a nice touch.For entrees, I got the clam and scallop pasta and it came out cold. If I had to describe my meal, it was fine... and also very small. Our son's girlfriend got the pasta con sugo and she said it was very good. Both my husband and our son got the pork. We were surprised by the presentation. It was a plate with a large breaded pork chop topped by a fried egg and a little bit of lettuce. We were all surprised that it didn't come with potatoes or pasta (AND the waitress never thought to mention that and offer it as an add-on)Once done, we asked for the dessert menu but decided we were full. We then asked for the bill and it was wrong by almost $50! We were all confused and thought maybe it included the tip but I realized that can't be the case because it would have been a very small tip. I gave it back to her for review and she agreed that it was wrong. She had brought the bill from another table, She apologized but still, I find that very careless.Unfortunately a restaurant that we once loved is now off the list... we will not be coming back.
I don't think me and my wife had one complaint.
She got the Con Sugo and I got the Lamb three ways. Both were excellent and it was probably the best lamb I've ever had. Wasn't crazy about the ravioli but it still wasn't bad. Ovi was a great waiter, very attentive. Unlike other reviews I thought the portion was perfect and reasonably priced.

* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* ImmortalStep65, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* ImmortalStep65 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to ImmortalStep65 for any questions Peter may have as ImmortalStep65 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* ImmortalStep65 now uses their connections at Mamma Maria Boston to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If ImmortalStep65 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, ImmortalStep65 receives the $200 reward which is credited to ImmortalStep65's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Mamma Maria Boston!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
