Le Train Bleu Paris Reviews
Come for the room not the food.
Amazing room and ambience. There are some decent highlights but donโt come here for the food. You can eat better for less but the room is beautiful.
Great experience of French service
Great scenery, high standard service. If you choose steak tartare and crรชpes Suzette, you will be amazed by the old fashion way of preparing those dishes in front of youโฆ.
Amazing visit: my waiter Sami was friendly handsome and amazing. Le Train Bleu menu was amazing! Thanks for the service!
Amazing restaurant at Gare de Lyon. My waiter Sami was sweet and patient and excellent. I loved every dish!! Merci Merci
Took so long I grew a grey hair
The place looks amazing, the food is pretty good. The service on the other place, is insanely slow. Waiter went missing for 20 minutes at a time. We were both exhausted by the end of our lunch, having waited a solid hour and 30 minutes to get to the main courseโฆ. For lunch thatโs outrageous. Especially considering this place is literally in a train station. Who has almost two hours for lunch?

We were unable to find a reservation to fit our trip needs, so we came for a quick drink to at least see this beautiful restaurant. We were told by several people who had just dined that it was wonderful. Maybe on our next trip! Book in advance!!
I definitely booked this place for the interior design.
It was so romantic going inside with my hubby. We had the early lunch reservation which I was glad because the place was fairly empty. You get to absorb the beauty in peace. As for the service, I'll say it was good. We had the head server who helped us in the beginning. He gave a good recommendation for a sweet red wine which is actually finished! I got the lobster fricassee vegetable minestrone as a starter and it was delicious. There mini lobster ravioli which I find cute but it it worth 39โฌ can be on some people's mind. My husband got a roasted leg of lamb which he enjoyed seeing it being carved in front of him. He got a new leg. I got pork filet mignon which was delicious. The portion looks small but you'll filled up once you start eating! It seems like for the ladies, you pour your own gravy because the table next to me had his gravy all poured out for him. I'm not sure if it's a gender thing where female prefer less gravy due to calories? Definitely swing by the place with a reservation for lunch since it gets super busy but you can always swing to the bar area if you don't want a whole meal.
This gem of a place is located right in the train station.
Stunning interiors. Feels like you are in a palace. We went to experience the sheer grandeur and the most raved about table side crepe Suzette which was quite the show! We got the only vegetarian pasta in the menu and that was exquisite. Service was quick and the whole experience was fantastic. You can stay for as long as you want. So, perfect if you are wanting to kill time before checking in to your hotel. They also have lots of space to stow your bags. Highly recommend going here once when you are in Paris.
One of the most beautiful restaurants i had the opportunity
One of the most beautiful restaurants i had the opportunity to visit while i was in Paris! It truly is a dream and the fact that it is located within a train station was otherworldly. Like a little separate pocket of bougieness in an unexpected area. It is a little hard to find so just keep an eye out for stairs and it is located on the second floor if your uber driver drops you off on the side of the station rather than the front. Prices are a little high compared to other restaurants we experienced and in my opinion food was good but the prices got me a little lol. This is not a place you come to when you are on a budget but it is the prefect spot for a celebration or a fancy date night.
Food was ok.
Space is stunning. Service was good. Overall a decent dining experience but not exceptional for Paris.
This place is a MUST! A real gem within the Gare de Lyon
This place is a MUST! A real gem within the Gare de Lyon train station,... it feels like going back in time. Perhaps it may not be the best meal you may have in Paris, but the whole experience is worth it. I strongly suggest that you get a reservation. The opulent dining room is absolutely stunningly beautiful. You will not be able to stop staring at the amazing ceilings' art. The Staff is professional, friendly, helpful, proficient, and eager to please. They seemed somewhat hectic and busy, but able to manage a full room. The food is a just bit above average and may not justify the above average price. For the high prices, they did not deliver on taste. The food presentation is excellent, they even offer flambรฉ dishes. I highly recommend the Pistachio souffle w/raspberry ice cream dessert and the crepes Suzette was delicious and made at the table (see video). Overall, you will get a really all together excellent experience, with great service and average pricy food.
Very nice place to visit if the interior and dรฉcor are
Very nice place to visit if the interior and dรฉcor are important to your experience. And while the staff were all very friendly, they tend to move very slow on just about everything. While the food was of good quality, so of the items lacked a bit of flavor, like the roasted lamb leg and potato gratin. The lamb leg also had a fair amount of fat on it, which was undesirable. Although it was my first time having it, the John Dory fillets were delicious, however! A nice soft and rich white fish that has the perfect amount of the fishy flavor and texture. And finally for dessert, we had an interesting bourbon cake, where they just gave us some white cake and a bottle of bourbon to pour over ourselves. Very fun, just be careful to not overdo it!
It was recommended to me to make a reservation at Le Train
It was recommended to me to make a reservation at Le Train Bleu. This was a very special evening for a father and Daughter European Trip. We planned this trip for 15 years. I did the reservation online, looked at all the YouTube Video's and read the reviews. I cannot tell you how DISAPPOINTED I was with the overall experience. This place is GROSSLY understaffed. This made the service below par from start to finish. I will highlight below. Staff and Service: Our server was always rushed. I asked for flat water 5 times. Each time it took over three asks and 15 minutes. I don't drink wine so I really needs some water. I fully knew the service would be relaxed, much slower then in the United States to allow for a special evening. That was expect and part of the experience. The service alone will be a 1 out of 5 and made anything else that happened less than it could have been. I expected attention and felt ignored. The same held true for the couple next to use. The only thing the server was quick on was taking payment. Atmosphere: Spectacular and in my ratings, a 5 out of 5. This place is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my 67 years on this earth. Food: On a scale of 1 to 5, a 3.5. This was another disappointment. I ordered the "LE MENU DU TRAIN BLEU" which is the most expensive full course menu. The fool was as I said, 3.5 out of 5. We left the cheese on the table and shipped the dessert. I never do that, ever. Conclusion: If you want the experience, simply go for a drink. Save your money and choose another place. Paris is lovely for fine dining which this was not. Eat well, drink well and stay healthy.

Recently took a trip to Paris and found his jewel which I will return to again and again highly recommend the soufflรฉ and highly recommend taking the advice of the waiter. Some French is not my thing when becomes too saucy, but this was perfectly sassy the right amount!

A magical ambiance! Literally one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever seen! The service was so attentive from the moment we walked through the door. We arrived for the dinner service after 8pm and the food came out at a good pace. The food was incredible! The roasted leg of lamb (served at the table from a trolley) and gravy was a 10/10. The veal rib steak was also tender and the truffle potatoes were incredible. To top it all off we ordered the famous caramel soufflรฉ with lemon ice cream and it was perfect!
Beautiful location
The location is spectacular. The food was ok but not as great as some other places and the prices were on the high side. But given the location, it was enjoyable enough.
First rate
I had wanted to try dining here for a very long time (and not just because Mr. Bean had been here previously) and finally got to dine here while staying close to the Gare de Lyon : yes itโs expensive but there are other places in Paris that will charge you a lot more for a meal, but the food, service and of course the decor are on another level (plenty of sandwiches/takeaway places in the station if you donโt want to spend money)
Tourist trap
Extremely disappointing. So over priced for the food you get. They bring you bread without better. Portions are super small. Food is average at best. Appetizer at 38$. A tourist trap for the decor. Nothing else.

The Venue is a 5 Filled with many many wonderful architecture! The Service a 5 Our table staff were on point and provided a wonderful show! The Food a 3 Given the current restaurant rating of TWO STARS, we were not blown away. The food was ok but not great. I should only be a one-star in my opinion...... I was expecting to be blown away.
Amazing decor
Set in one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Paris, this is a grand vision of the Belle Epoque. The food is very good, but the specialty of the lamb is nothing special. But certainly worth a visit.
Beautiful venue, good food, good service.
.. but a challenge to get to as a tourist (and harder to get back to the hotel, especially if you choose Uber). Multiple courses served. Very well executed. Lamb, however, was a bit under-seasoned and room temp. Nonetheless, everything was good, not great, but given the spectacular venue in a train station, it was truly memorable. Finding the restaurant in the train station was a minor challenge. However, finding transport back to our hotel was a major one. THREE attempts to secure Uber were failures as drivers could not locate us (two of them actually cancelled with no notice). Many "taxis" are available, but most are not legit. After roughly 40 minutes we secured a legit taxi and made it back to our hotel. No fault to the restaurant; Uber in Paris is definitely NOT something I would recommend. FYI - taxi was just over half the cost of what our absentee Uber drivers would have charged. An exceptional dining room with good food. An elegant, although busy, venue. We will likely return (but retain a driver in advance!)!

i dined alone, my waiter was a bit standoffish, and was not really friendly/inviting. i attempted to be respectful and use some french language. he seemed like "oh another american tourist". (meanwhile im wearing Giorgio Armani and 50k in jewelry.) the secondary server that gives water, wine and bread serving was so nice, engaging, fun, and conversative- i wish he was my server instead. while the space is absolutely beautiful, there is no music, so its a little strange no sound, just quiet and people eating. ambient sound is important. no candle or flowers either. it felt like an element of nice mood was missing. it was only bright lights. but the food itself is delicious, and the rhum baba is life changing amazing. i had wine, a starter, a main, a dessert, and champagne, and only 150โฌ. once it was at the end of meal, and i had nice conversations with the couple at next table, my rude server started being nicer. would i go back? probably no because it was nice, but the service is not excellent "wow".

I will remember and cherish this place as one of my favorite restaurants in the world. Having lived in many countries and dined in a few Michelin star restaurants from California to the French Alps, this place was truly magical. It really is a fine dining experience and my memory of it is even better after finding out that Mr. Bean my favorite comedian had a scene here where he ate at this restaurant. The service was great and the servers were attentive. The Ambiance .... well you have to feel and live for yourself! it was beautiful in the pictures and videos I have seen before visiting but woah to be physically there in all of its glory was spectacular and breathtaking! My French Husband enjoyed his meal so that says alot! We had a seven course meal and every plate was exceptional, perfect balance of savory elements. The dessert was so wonderful and unique ! It's definitely a Must Taste and See on your Paris Trip!!!!!!

The food was excellent and the service old school with dishes prepared at our table. The service was attentive and excellent. The restaurant is beautiful and even though it is in a train station with modern trains in the background, the actual restaurant built in 1901 is one of the most beautiful I have seen and pictures do not describe its true beauty. Highly recommend
Amazing location, feels like you're in a museum.
Get a reservation since it's busy. Also, enjoy the cheese and dessert, so make some room.

Michelin star my ass! This place sucked balls outside the fantastic interior decor. the food was not good at all. the service was horrible, and there menu lacked variety. we had the fish bouillabaisse, my wife didn't like this dish at all. i had lamb leg with gravy. and my daughter had the scallops. all we're forgettable and sucked. i really tried to like the french and french food. but there's no love in there food, only stuck up snooty attitudes like their people. don't wast your hard earned money on this place. go elsewhere.
You can't eat Instagram.
Yes is this an Instagram God send? Absolutely. Is it an architectural gem? Yes. In 1900 Paris was in the throughs of an Exposition when it decided to renovate the train station. It was agreed that the center piece would be a Buffet de Gare, a Station Cafe, that would showcase the latest technology and transportation. So important it was, that the President of the France inaugurated it in 1901. The place was frequented by the lines of F Scott Fitzgerald, Hemingway and Stein. In 1963 the Cafe was called the Train Bleu in honor of the train running from Paris to Ventimiglia (French Riviera). That being said, yes the three stars are for the food, history, ambiance and gravitas. There are no stars for the service or food a nod to the French Riviera cuisine. I had the scallops and they were good. I also tasted the tartar and it was also good. The waiters were aloof, glacially slow and robotic; even for French standards. Save yourself a large bill by going in and merely eating near the bar.
The two stars are for the beauty of the building.
Service is unacceptable. We had a reservation, arrived and were put at this tiny cocktail table. Our intention was to order the full breakfast which would have been impossible with this seating. They had MANY open tables but chose not to seat us there. We had a cup of coffee and were out. Sad because this is a beautiful place. Maybe hire some experienced staff who understand customer service?!?
Wow
One Restaurant with Tradition and Architect. I think its a bit of expensive but it must be for things what you get and what you see in this Restaurant. It likes a castle. A minus point is the service not good like i thought.
Loved it
Beautiful restaurant - it felt like dining in a museum! Staff were great. They had many gluten free options. Food was really good but small serving sizes. Get the cheese board - you won't regret it!
Absolutely in the best tradition of European railway-terminal restaurants!
Definitely a great destination where the atmosphere beats all other considerations. The best service, epic surroundings, classic menu and wine list, prices to please deep pockets. Our occasion was Sunday lunch, the gigot d'agneau was like being in France with the family. The place is food as theater, you're part of the scenery!
Pricey but definitely an event.
Had made a reservation but turned up late - the gracious host allowed us to have a table (probably seeing how upset we were that we were so late due to the metro!). The room is stunning, exactly like the pictures, feels like stepping back in time. I agree however that the lighting is a bit stadiumesque, it's incredibly bright. I don't think it massively impacts the ambience overall but don't expect a hushed bistro. The food was really good, the langoustines and puff pastry was excellent, the lamb carved at the table was delicious and thumbs up for the huge portion of dauphinoise. Definitely would recommend the crepes suzette for a bit of theatre at your table too. It was incredibly pricey, but it was a once in a lifetime experience.

I was here on Tuesday night and we ordered the cod and a few other dishes. The cod literally smelled like a dead rotten fish and tasted so disgusting I wanted to vomit. I had a tiny bite and spit it out. I asked the waiter if I can get something else and if he can return it because I didn't want it on my table anymore because it smelled so horrible. He said no and that we still have to pay which was shocking and he gave a lot of attitude. We shortly got the check leaving hungry and upset. On the way out we wanted to take photos since the Resturant does look pretty even though the food is trash. The waiter was holding a huge metal tray and passed by me very fast without even saying excuse me and banged the metal tray into my head and everything fell and didn't even apologize. That was so very shocking to me!! I still have a lot of pain and a headache for the past 2 days from this and deciding if I need to get medical attention. Luckily I have it all on video because I was trying to take a video of the art and then got hit in the head! Please please don't go here!
Last week at Le Train Bleu, had an amazing lunch in a spectacular venue!
What could one possibly say about an amazing restaurant. The waiters were THE BEST, and the food was wonderful; the architecture was incredible! What a beautiful place; worth the trip from anywhere worldwide!
Very cool atmosphere backed up with amazing food.
Amazing braised lamb carved table side. Also had the truffle mushroom risotto which was passed around the table. Highly recommend!
Disgusting food.
I ordered the cod and it smelled like fecal matter, I couldn't even take a bite. I told the waiter to please take it away. He said " even though it smells bad, you must pay". So I paid 50 euro just for that horrible food. This place is a total gimmick. We drove 30 minutes from our hotel. So not worth it, just watch a YouTube video if you want to see the inside. Not worth even one euro. Also extremely rude staff, bumped into us with plates multiple times and didn't apologize for anything. They even hit my wife with a bottle in the head! I'm still in shock.
Definitely a place to visit.
Recommend making reservations before going.Thought it was all a gimmick due to so many social media posts, so wrong. The food was AMAZING! The scallop appetizer melted in my mouth. The salad was fresh and the veal was very tender. Loved how they served it with roasted garlic. Even our wine was a great pairing with our food. The place was packed and loud, yet we enjoyed our visit. Servers were very friendly.
Beautiful ambiance, definitely a must try in Paris.
This restaurant is very meat centric but overall the selection is good!
Super chic opulent setting with great chef Michel Rostang.
Located in a historical hall upstairs in the far end of the train station Gare de Lyon. Great lively service. The waiters/hostesses wear uniforms reminiscent of train conductors and train attendants. The one waiter even puts on a short theatrical performance. The food was superb. Had the roast lamb served with potatoes au gratin. The waiter comes around with the leg of lamb on a carving station. Also had the soufflรฉ (which you have to order at the time of main entree) and also the rum baba. Definitely an experience worth repeating.
Beautiful Restaurant, lovely atmosphere, and stunning views.
Very friendly service. Our waiter was very kind, helpful. The food was amazing! Very delicious. Must try the Veal, or the Lamb. If you like cheese, definitely try the assorted cheese platter! Very crazy how Mr.Bean was filmed here.
Amazing ambiance.
The staff really put on a show with the table side leg of lamb and flaming dessert. It's an experience although not the best meal I've had in Paris. My partner loved his meal but mine was just ok. Can't miss for ambiance, hit or miss for food.
We had a reservation for 4 at 10pm on a Thursday night.
When we got there the hostess told us the kitchen closes at 10pm. What kind of crappy service is this. If they knew this ahead of time why wasn't this told to us when we made reservations.
Reviewing separately for food and decor.
The decor was beautiful, located inside the train station of Gare de Lyon. Absolutely stunning venue! Just for the location it is a must see. However the food was a complete pass. Horrible with barely any flavor. Ordered the menus. And I actually had food left over in every single dish. That is how horrible it was. Could barely eat this. The foie gras from the menu was dry, it was the terrine style with wrapped bread. Just bland. The salmon fume was ok. For plats, we ordered the chicken stew and this fish balls (weird fish balls). For dessert the best thing was the local cheese! Others were terrible. Don't come here for the food. Just look at decor. The food (from the pre fixe menu) was horrible. Could not even stomach this. Hard pass.
We were lucky enough to get a table last minute!! Did you
We were lucky enough to get a table last minute!! Did you know Jay Chou did his music video here!! Soo cool!!! Also fun fact Mr. Bean also had a movie filmed here !!! The staff was very kind and welcomingThe food wow soo yummmy Over all 5 stars hope to return one day
