La Guérite Cannes Reviews
Great vibe & food, not so great staff
Came here for the 3:30pm booking which is apparently the best time as that’s when it turns into a party. The atmosphere is great, the boat ride took about 5 minutes and was surprisingly fun. The signature pasta was the best pasta I have ever tasted (and i eat a lot of pasta). The cocktails are about 25-29 euro each and the ones i tried weren’t great. Along with other reviews, the service here isn’t great and you’re better off ordering everything you want in one go as you won’t get served often. Some staff members appeared stand-offish and blunt. The music started with classic hits including elton john, queen etc. and later turned into more of a house vibe. The vibe is great and everyone stands on the chairs once the food is over. When queing for the boats at the end of the day one female staff member pushed multiple guests while shouting at them. She seemed unphased when one male guest told her to “stop pushing women”. She rolled her eyes and continued to push them. She was extremely unpleasant to say the least. (but i believe she worked for the speed boats opposed to the resteraunt)
Terrible staff
They ruined my Birthday which I planned months ago! Very rude staff, they gave us the worst possible table in the restaurant in the quiet corner despite we asked million times that it’s important for me as my birthday to be in busy place. Then they promised the will change the table after good cause kitchen is closing, they pushed us to order a lot of food and after lunch they said oh sorry we can’t change the table. Everyone came after us they got the better place than us. At the end I said I don’t want my cake as it’s waste of money to celebrate in this quiet corner but they didn’t listen to me and brought the cake cause of course they charge a lot of money for the cake.
Note to any one trying to make reservations ! Very disappointing!
Note to any one trying to make reservations ! Very disappointing!! When I made our reservations months in advance in April, you have to make your reservations with a credit card to even begin with !! I had reservations for the 3:15 pm. The day of our reservations July 6th, I got this email "Unfortunately we have to cancel your booking because you didn’t filled up the credit card link by the 48 hours before your venue" which is so false, and very disorganized on their end. I even have two confirmed emails correspondences to confirmed our reservations twice for party of 10 with my credit card information! Also I was corresponding with Lea, she said I could come there for drinks at the bar. since my reservation was canceled. The next day I showed up to no avail for a party of 4!! – My opinion, they should focus on cooperative planning and organization of their system for improvement! So my advice to any Americans who would like to go there for the experience, make you sure you do your diligence because they have no sympathy whatsoever!
Immaculate vibes
We booked a 3pm sitting here and after looking at reviews we’re apprehensive but decided to keep our booking and we couldn’t be more glad to ignore the negatives. We were using the restaurants boat to get to the restaurant and the instructions to get to boat were unclear, the only guidance being go to Port Pierre Canto; our driver had to phone the restaurant and ask where he needed to take us as the port is big. Upon arrival at the island our table was not ready so we had a cocktail at the bar and looked around the shops. As we were expecting poor service we ordered a bottle of champagne; however, we were pleasantly surprised and received great service, never once having to poor our glass ourselves and the table being cleared promptly. We had two courses and all our food was perfect. If you want a party and gorgeous food, we highly recommend.
Rip off
Rip off from another world stay away Ordered five ( x5 ) small 0,25cl Coca-Colas today How much did I pay for each 5€ 8€ or 10€?? They charged me 10€ EACH yes that’s EACH my friends, a total of 50€ for cokes for me my wife and my kids
WARNING: DO NOT VISIT!
WARNING! ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS AND DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE! The view and party is fantastic and the food was fine but everything else was a disaster: - The waiters seemed to be on drugs. At the end they went into a fistfight with some of their guests!! I have never ever experienced anything like that. - The service during our lunch was non-existent. Nobody cleared the table, it took ages to order something so we decided to pay and just leave early. - Everyone knows that it is not a cheap place (which is fine if you get the quality + service) but we felt really ripped of. An example was when the waiter asked if we want to drink 3 shots of tequila with him to celebrate my birthday. Later on they insisted on charging us 75€ for those 3 shots. - Friends of us got threatened by the general manager of the restaurant!!! If you spend around 1.000€ for a lunch for 2 persons and want to have a horrible experience please be their guests. NEVER EVER AGAIN.
not worth it
you can get a pretty view anywhere and that’s all this this is….. service not good food and drinks not good. Trust me, I love spending money but only when it’s worth it. 1.5 hours it took to even get one drink, let alone the food I tried to leave After trying to re-order three times after I waited an hour and a half, but you’re on an island And I guess they decided they didn’t want me to leave.. They brought me a drink and my food, but I was never able to get a second drink let alone multiple drinks… I could hear everyone around me, complaining about the service and food so I wouldn’t even say the vibes are good either. I’ve had meals on Islands that were inexpensive and fresh that were 100 times better than this. Don’t waste one of your vacation days here
Island Retreat for a Day Without the Retreat Service
The experience here is definitely worthwhile. You have to take a boat to the island from Cannes and then are promptly seated. You are able to explore the island and enjoy the scenery from every seat in the restaurant. However, I was unhappy with the service here. Some members of the staff seemed to be in a rush for us to leave so they could seat another table and the prices were high for the quality of food. I was disappointed that the service did not match the ambiance.
Shockingly, stunningly awful
We were on a week's private cruise from Cap d'Antibes to Marseiles and back. One of our party of 3 had been to La Guérite last year for a wedding reception and enjoyed himself, so recommended we go there for lunch. At the end of our meal he was deeply embarrassed, not to say mortified. The setting is attractive although there are far better ones along this coast. The service was stretched and unfriendly. The food was shockingly bad, arguably the worst meal of my quite long life, and shockingly expensive even by the elevated standards of the Côte d'Azur: €480 for 3 miserly starters made from poor ingredients (€30 for a very little bowl of bad Greek salad?), 3 small thin pieces of stale overcooked seabass fillet whose uniformity of shape and size strongly suggested defrosted, a bottle of sparkling water, and an execrabke bottle of Chablis that could strip varnish from wood. The ambience is Club 18-30 without the class. An endless procession of motor boats delivers groups of unsuspecting tourists, hen and stag parties to be fleeced as they sing along to a desperately limited live group playing very old pop hits (Sweet Caroline 4 or 5 times in the 90 minutes we were there). Far worse than Club 55 in St Tropez, which until now has been my "must avoid" yardstick for wildly overpriced mediocrity. A truly depressing experience in every way. If the food and wine were even adequate you could just about bear it in exchange for the location, but as it is the only sensation is that of having been gouged and treated with contempt. Even one star is five stars too many.
Great party atmosphere, good food but very expensive
Had a great time with friends and food was outstanding. Real party vibe, great music. Service was good, although 2 main courses were late. They brought extra food and knocked some money off the bill. Very very expensive though, so a once only occasion for us.
Beware the €15 bottles of WATER!
We had a nice enough lunch with friends and family, until the bill arrived and we were charged 6 x €15 for six bottles of water that no one in our group ordered. Total rip-off: €90 on water?!? And when I asked about tap water, the server told me it tastes bad. Location is great, atmosphere is great, food is average and extortionate.
Not worth over 250€ per head
The place is greatly located on the island of Lerins but the management should review their business model. You cannot be paying over more than 250€ pp it is not worth it no matter who you are. Your name shouldn t be the price increase reason and this is what happens. Any sport or entertainment figure should be careful and not pay whatever to be there. Definitely not worth the service the food or anything
Beautiful place, DISGRACEFUL SERVICE.
Gorgeous setting, lovely food and fabulous music. APPAULING STAFF with aggressive attitudes towards customers. In desperate need of training in social settings, an absolute embarrassment and disgrace to the beachclub. Expect to wait for food for 1.5hrs and drinks 2hrs.
Very rude staff
Good food - although limited menu Nice waiters Good setting - beachy Overpriced - food / drink Very rude bar staff - terrible Very overpriced boutique
Good for Seaside Party & Nice food
We visited La Guerite back in September. We made the reservation through our hotel otherwise it was impossible to make a reservation. They have a model where they pick you from the harbour with their boats, when you arrive you have to wait at the bar (as part of their set up they expect you to spend some time at the bar for drinks) then you are allowed to go to your table. We chose to sit in the restaurant part this way we enjoyed our food enjoyed the live music but a bit away from people who are partying on their tables. We had nice artichoke salad, gambas tempura, la Guerite pasta and octopus. For 2 persons , we were full and couldn’t finish the pasta. We also opened a Provencal Rose Wine (Chateau Minuty) and enjoyed our food, live music, party and the whole atmosphere. If you had the chance it is a good idea to go once
Great vibes, music and food in a beautiful setting
Immaculate view, vibes, food, and music. This place is definitely worth a trip for the experience of the ferry, St Maguerite as a whole and all of the above. We enjoyed the octopus so much we almost reordered it after essentially inhaling the first dish of it. It was likely the best octopus I’ve had in all of Europe. We enjoyed every plate we had and the drinks were also delicious. The only reason I’d knock off half a star is because we had to wait a bit despite having a reservation and the service, even once seated, could have been improved.
Beautiful setting, great food, upbeat atmosphere
With 3 friends we had a wonderful, entertaining lunch here. The atmosphere was fantastic and the whole place gets into the Mediterranean vibe and has a great time. If you are looking for a great lunch venue on the edge of the sea that lets you stand on your chair and groove to the music, this is it.
