Overhyped, don’t fall for it
Immensely overhyped. I am never waiting that long in a queue for food ever again. I waited in line for over an hour to share a table with 2 couples and a group of grandpas. Waiting took ages. Staff were unfriendly, I mean, given it’s in HK it’s a given, but to wait THAT long for service and food I could get elsewhere for less time and the same or better quality was not worth it. Eventually, a group of Americans sat down and commented on my every move as I ate my rice, so that added to the delight. Is it the best clay pot rice I’ve ever had? No, there’s definitely a lot better out there.

Who said claypot rice is winter limited? Here in Sai Wan there's still tons of restos providing bozaifan until late night. Loads of toppings, tender beef, finely scorched rice (no need to pay extra). Took them 20mins to cook which was fair. Better to order one claypot rice and a different dish to share for 2 people. Such a pity to hear their bigger shop is closing down.

Great taste and experience eating in this gem of a place for claypots. 2 branches near each other in Sai Ying Pun - claim to fame are their claypots which are nicely cooked over charcoals, smooth and silky rice that nicely crisps without much burning.
Their claypot sauce is what I believe sets them apart as it adds an additional dimension of flavor to the experience.
They also have other fried Chinese dishes which are good to pair with a claypot order like their oyster cakes or the fried stringbeans
Overall good flavor/taste, service-wise is typical of any HK-style establishment which are well and good for the locals so it should be good for anyone coming in.
Worth a come back definitely!

Claypot rice - pretty worth trying
First time at Kwan Kee. There are two shops. Certainly worthwhile trying the claypot rice which turned out to be a good choice. Ordered a few other dishes, which were ok to so-so, nothing great. The steamed fish was pretty fishy in smell.

We order our meal 7pm after queue for 20 minutes, server told us it takes 90 minutes for our order of 4 claypot rice, we agree and wait since we share w other 6 diner in a round table for 8
It arrive 75 minutes later which d others all patiently waiting, white eel claypot rice is d best i ever try in Hongkong ( or so hungry after 75 min ? )
The othrr claypot rice of spare ribs w chinese sausage and dried duck w chicken also very very good.
Overhyped
We ordered the famous clay pot and the pork bone hot pot. Taste were average and definitely overhyped.
Service was slow probably due to the crowd.
We need to share table with others.
There are better options around the same area with that range of pricing , especially those along Middle Road nearby.
A bit overhyped
We ordered the chef recommendation pork bone soup and chicken sausage clay pot rice. Taste were good but not as good as expected from all the hypes. Price wise is not cheap either.
The place is crowded and we have to share table with two other couples. Very typical of local tea/coffee shop with not too friendly staff. A bit of a let down.
The best claypot rice ever
I have eaten here a few times and I have never eaten another claypot rice that is better than this.
If u like salted fish, mix it in the rice n you won't be disappointed. The claypot vegetable with shrimp and their signature pork bones soup are a must try.
frills free good local delights
Ordered the claypot chicken rice with Chinese sausage and steamed squids with garlic. No regrets though be prepared to drink more water thereafter. Food was a tad salty.
