Wow, amazing restaurant. Fabulous food & fabulous staff
This restaurant was recommended to us. We booked a few months in advance. This has been one of the highlights of Porto. The ambience in the restaurant is perfect. Absolutely loved the music (you need to sell the playlist!) There was a great variety of food, served in a really sociable way. I would recommend this restaurant to people who love good food.

This place is amazing—truly an experience! They offer a variety of high-quality dishes in a “surprise menu,” including fresh fish, meats, and tartares, all beautifully prepared. The staff is incredibly kind and fun, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The drinks, food, and desserts are all excellent, with plenty of options for those with dietary restrictions. Chef Tiago and the entire team are fantastic! Highly recommended if you ever visit Porto. PLEASE book your table in advance!

The restaurant and staff really deserves a kudos.. we went there for dinner, surprise menu degustation(me, my partner and our 11 months old child) . From the first minute they were really welcoming, arranged the best table to suit our toddler, explained the food porn experience and embraced the younger one into.. for me the fish soup was the best of all the 6 courses.. besides that having a meal there will always stay in our minds due to the little moments as per example our son had a music playing for him and was appraised by all the tables.. a very loveble moment. All the staff was impecable and we will repeat the experience and absolutly recommned.. Thank you
Unanimously A Fun restaurant with Wonderful food!
This place is amazing and so much fun!! We came for dinner as a recommendation from a friend who has a home in Porto. We were not disappointed. We were 1/2 hour late because of a communication glitch but they called us while we were in our uber. They were so accommodating and friendly when we arrived. We got caught up with our courses and each one was more delicious than the next. Celebrating birthdays with grappa for all don't hurt either!! Highly recommended. A definite go to and well worth it. The staff were all awesome and fun! Yeah!! Thank you Charma for a wonderful evening.

Absolutely amazing experience with the most welcoming and knowledgeable staff - if you're in Porto this is a must. If there's anything you like more or less they'll adjust happily - but you'll want double of everything.

Special place - make a reservation!!!
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant with a unique approach to dining. You chose one your beverage and they bring you a five to seven course meal based on what’s fresh in the market. The food was spectacular. They will honor any food allergies you may have. Intimate space. You meet other diners and the staff is warm and hospitable. I loved the vibe. During our dinner we heard Beatles tunes and one guest got up and played the piano for us! My husband and I had a great and memorable evening at Chama.
A Must Go
Dining at restaurant Chama is quite unique. Anna who greets you on arrival is like a long time friend. The food, which changes on the whim of the chef and comes in generous waves is drawn form whatever is fresh that day. At the end of the evening Anna called us a cab & even walked us up to meet it. Now that doesn't happen every day! You'll need to book & be happy to be surprised. Its worth it.
Surprise
This restaurant has no menu but serves 6 "surprise" courses. All courses were delicious from tuna sushi, to warm goat cheese in a port sauce to seafood risotto to pork belly. The wines are reasonable and good. They offer an aparitif on the house . A very good value in a quirky place with fabulous food. Reserve in advance as it is popular.

What a fun night we had at this lovely restaurant. 6 courses and you don’t choose, each one was delicious! Great atmosphere so relaxed and fab wines/cocktails. Anna looked after us so well. Best night in Porto so far You must visit!!
Chama Surprise
Read great reviews about Chama but failed to read that it was a surprise menu. Ended up being the highlight of all our meals in Portugal and Spain. 3 starters, 2 entrees, dessert and drinks and a shot at the end of a 3 hour magnificent meal. Fantastic chef, great service cozy atmosphere. Definitely need reservations. Hostess was super, bartender outstanding, waiter was great - everything was delicious ! Total came to just over 100 Euros for 2- well worth the price for this gastro experience.

Fabulous meal served by friendly and bubbly staff ! All courses were delicious- especially the fresh tuna - melted in your mouth. A great evening and experience with great quality food . Definitely worth the money!

Would have awarded 6 stars if I could
Not sure what recent reviews were based on, certainly nothing like our experience! All meals that we had on this surprise menu were hot if they were meant to be and cold as required if salady stuff. All meals were very well presented by lovely servers, there was no delay, everything arrived promptly with out causing us to rush at all. The tuna was probably my favourite as so soft and tender, the meat was good, cocktail good, desert good. Thanks for a great evening, worth every penny👍
Very slow service.
Waiters were totally inattentive. Each small plate came thirty minutes after the other. Waiters seemed uninterested and distracted... not at all worth it. One small meat based dish? For 42 euros?? Get outta here.
2 different nights, 2 very different impressions
Mixed review here, I've been twice and was really impressed the first time when I took my work team, we all loved the relaxed atmosphere, the food was great and we had a great night. Guy serving was quite entertaining, although he made one comment that was a bit demeaning (an absolute "never do" to a client). 2nd time, went with wife, we arrived a bit late and the Chef did not hide his displeasure (bad start). Food was bang average and they forgot our meat dish (although discounted on price). The "way too informal" guy serving had now become very irritating and it was clear he thinks he's the star attraction of the place. Sorry to burst your bubble mate, but we came for the food!
An exceptional experience!
After reading such great reviews on a travel FB page, we decided Chama was a must try. Upon entering, we were overwhelmed with good vibes, great music, and incredibly friendly staff! We began with delicious drinks that were inspired by what we like. Next, we enjoyed so many delectable courses that we were begging for dessert so that we'd have room for it! Chama is more than dinner, it's an experience you won't forget!!

Fabulous Evening
Booked the Chama restaurant as a surprise for my husband’s birthday (after reading reviews) so glad I did as it did not disappoint. We had a fabulous evening we were made to feel very welcome by all the members of staff, the food was amazing as was the music. The biggest compliment my husband could make is that when we return to Porto he wants to have another evening at Chama’s. Thank you to everyone at Chama’s keep doing what you are doing.
Not worth the time or money
Very disappointed. Fixed Menu. Service was lacking in professionalism. Server often socializing with others in restaurant that appeared to be acquaintances. Long wait period between courses. Kitchen staff observed going outside to smoke. At one point another customer decided to provide some entertainment between courses by playing the available piano. Customer was very talent and the music was enjoyable. The actual courses were not special nor full of flavors. We couldn't wait to be done with the courses and leave. What a waste of time and money. Much better meal at Casario Restaurant the night between.

A cannot miss experience
Amazing food and atmosphere. At the time we left, we felt like we were part of a family. It’s a small team who really cares about your experience and the food you eat.
We went to Chama as the menu was a surprise.
Definitely interesting concept. I got us reservations 2 weeks in advance (perhaps since it was over December holidays). The restaurant is quite alternative, the decor is cool and different, even had an out of tune Piano, which one of the other guests were playing during the long waits between meals. If you made a reservation for dinner, our time was 7pm expect to be there for at least 3+ hours. The wait between courses was very long, we had one that was 30 mins wait. Some came quicker than others. The dishes were different, however several of them were overly salted, which I was not too much of a fan of. Additionally hubby is allergic to nuts, and this information was provided in the beginning of the meal, unfortunately they forgot this at dessert when they served us hazelnut ice cream! We ended up leaving most of the dessert. Overall, cool ambiance, small tight tables, and some of the dishes were way too salty. The price was very good, 38 euros per person. So definitely a different experience.

Bae made this reservation a few months ago in anticipation of our Porto visit. Yelp isn't as big here! I am hoping I help put them on the map by manually entering them and adding this review. Think fresh mood driven concept. What looks good in the market? That's what they will create that night. So there is no fixed menu. Also things are based on slow cooking over an open flame. So creative was this 7 course extravaganza loosely based on Portuguese classics but creatively inspired and lovingly presented. Pictured is the little oven but many proteins are slow grilled braised over open flame. And I thought my kitchen was tiny!!! Anna the hostess was very cool enthusiast as was the entire crew. The vibe was Bizerkeley bohemian, casual eclectic with Spotify playing a variety of stuff from to 2 pac n Dre "California love" done in our Honor as we are from Cali; to Gotan Project. But it was when I requested Anna the hostess, to play some Gypsy Kings that the whole restaurant started bopping and swaying. Even the hip bar tender whose cocktails are out of this world was "a shake shake shaking" his jigger to the sounds. We got a pitcher of sangria which was splendid so we didn't try but everyone around us who ordered, each looked like master pieces! And based on their faces they too looked pretty happy. We felt like we were at a house party, MC Anna and crew so attentive, enthusiastic. Half way through the 7 course meal, we saluted the 15 or so patrons to some homemade hooch... moonshine... that kicked things up a notch. The word convivial doesn't quite do this experience justice! I even met the Salma H of Portugal who took reservations seated everyone and helped with what ever was required. A gastronomic masterpiece of an event that took us through taste's, textures and visuals of a wide spectrum of OMG moments!!! Anna said come back tomorrow! I said we had a hard time getting these reservations! So she wrote a "special "bat phone" number on the card I had at the table. And winked call us no problem for you! They never heard of Yelp so Bae explained that as a YEE we are hoping to help put them on the radar. That got me another shot of hooch with Anna and the bar tender to celebrate their soon explosive success. Hell they don't need me... most of the patrons were from US but I'm happy to help anyway I can. And as I started post on Yelp 8 years ago, quoting the govenator.."I'll be back" For damn sure!

Wow one of a kind restaurant! It's highly recommended to make a reservation via email with Chama. At least 2 months in advance! People line up and they only take people with reservations and I think if there's any remaining open times, then they tell them what time to come back. It's very hipster feeling and everyone definitely does not filter what they say. But it's amazing! There is no set menu and instead it's a tasting menu. Every dish is wonderful but is A LOT of food. Like you will feel stuffed so I'd highly recommend coming here hungry. I had to take walks outside in between courses cause I couldn't handle sitting that entire time. Obviously there is no rush so you could relax here the entire night. But if you can't finish the food, they will pack them up for you to bring to go! It's a very reasonable price too everything you get at 38 euros. The workers were so friendly too and always checking in on us to make sure we were doing okay. It was nice to talk to other groups eating around us too. This place is trendy on Instagram and TikTok too especially when people want a quality meal in Porto that isn't so touristy.
Exquisite meal with phenomenal service.
The entire experience was five star. Thank you Ana for fitting us in this evening. Ana's personal service was above and beyond my expectations. The entire team was happy, excited and it was great. I recommend to anyone visiting Porto to have the surprise tasting meal. The chef created special dishes for the pescatarian in our group. Very intimate and yet casual and Hugh end. Love it!

Heard lots of raves about chef and fun atmosphere. Checked all the boxes. Each dish was curated with local and fresh ingredients. Welcome cocktail kicked off a night that was filled with fun and felt like a vibrant dinner party with friends. Staff clearly love the restaurant and are proud of the skill infused into each dish and presentation. Pace the eating to finish all courses. By dessert we couldn't eat another bite! We weren't able to do justice to the complex flavors, artistry, and skill. Next time, we'll go light on first few courses. Yes! Each dish was perfection and tasted amazing. Trust the comments! Enjoy!
One of a kind experience.
Staff and food were wonderful. Reservations required for a pre-set meal. Goal is for the staff to spend time with clients as they come in. Interesting presentations of fish, poultry, beef and veggies throughout the 8 courses (we might have lost track!!) would highly recommend but book early.
Best Meal in Portugal!
You just Have to Go Here! We were lucky enough to get a reser albeit at 930 pm! Don’t usually eat this late but so happy to go for the experience of the Chefs Degustation Menu! The whole experience was amazing; FIVE starters, a pre main course, the main and dessert! Including a lovely rum cocktail welcome drink! Staff are super fun and genuinely care about the quests in every way; friendly and attentive! Best part, you don’t have to ponder over a menu; you just arrive and the most amazing food is served to you as if you are royalty! Reasonable for the amount of food and the special attention to locally sourced food! Small funky place; felt like oldies as there is a cool hipster vibe but no one noticed or cared ! Special thanks to Paulo, sharing the house made special drink! For sure will return next time in Porto. Make sure to make that reser; they are already booked for 3 weeks!

An Experience
Food was really good and will not disappoint. Review on Trip Advisor was bang on. Our only frustration was that the host offered drinks and bread and was not transparent that this was extra on the bill. BEWARE as the host is a real salesperson!
Chama was outstanding!
Such an outstanding evening at Chama! The only thing better than the food was the staff. They were so friendly and wonderful. We enjoyed every minute of it! Quite possibly our favorite meal of our trip to Portugal.

Read about Chama and booked a few months out for our visit in early January. We had no idea what to expect - everything would be a surprise. We arrived and were quickly taken to our cozy table for 3. Once by one, dishes began arriving family style -Most tables had 2-4 people and the servings were for two people - so we lucked out with 3 as we were served portions for 4. From the fun music playing - to asking if anyone played the piano, the staff never stopped moving and too many courses to count. All creative and all delicious - even with my vegetable hating guys in tow. The drinks were also delicious - they had a mystery drink. My son and husband both ordered one and they were completely different! A second round of mystery drinks also brought two completely different drinks! All amazing. At 35euro per person, it's quite simply amazing. We were dying to have another meal there during our time in Porto but they were closing the following day for a winter break. We felt very fortunate we got to experience Chama.
A must visit
Can’t rate this place highly enough. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. Loved that each dish was a surprise. We had a mix of fish , meat and vegetable dishes , all freshly prepared and extremely tasty ( the ingredients of each dish are explained in detail as they are brought to the table and allergies are catered for). Booking is a must , we booked 10 days in advance and still had to change our plans around their availability but so glad we did.

WOW - Chama restaurant is an absolute must whilst in Porto. It was genuinely the best dining experience we’ve ever had! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the friendly, happy waiting staff. The vibe of the restaurant was so welcoming and warm! Throughout the evening the staff felt more like friends (never had this before in any restaurant). The food - WOW. The mystery 7/8 course meal was incredible. Each dish was incredible and exciting! They served each dish with perfect timing to allow you enough time to take in the dish but not feel like a long wait between courses. We’re already trying to arrange another trip back to Porto just to have this food again!!!! Cocktails were made with so much attention to detail and all tastes incredible. Fun vibes, amazing food, great value, lovely staff, great & lots of drink - 10/10 you MUST visit!!!! Thank you for making our experience so wonderful!

We made reservations here for dinner based on recommendations. We were seated right away. The menu format is a tasting menu where you "submit." You don't know what you're eating until it is being g served with an explanation. We did inform them that one was lactose intolerant, and another was allergic to alcohol which seemed not an issue. Meal consists of soup, 5 courses, and dessert. The food and service were excellent. Missing a few pictures since we forgot to take beforehand. The only issue we had was when they had the ice cream vodka shot to clean the palate that neither could partake and nothing was offered as a substitute

As someone who is always unsure about what to eat, I really liked the idea of having a surprise meal based on the fresh ingredients that day. I was lucky to have booked a late lunch reservation as we were only in Porto for a couple of days and reservations were limited. It's easy to make reservations by the way - just email them and they'll reply back. Our lunch included a 6-course meal and they were all amazing. We are so grateful to have experienced the flavors of Porto by just this meal alone. Definitely get an order of sangria - it was delicious! They were even passing around shots of some spicy drink.. it was so much fun!

All the food was tasty and the service was outstanding. It's a fun experience with a good vibe going on in the room. You don't get to pick what you are going to be served, they give you dishes based on what they get fresh that day. I think it was an 8 course meal, maybe 10? We got lucky and had veal medallions that night - photo attached, they were cooked perfectly. We spent $133 for 2 but that was with several drinks. We felt like it was a great value. They did toss in a free starter drink and a shot or two of some local concoction. Sure, there are much cheaper places to eat in Porto, but this one was worth the extra. I would call it a "must try at least once" experience if you are in Porto!On a side note, the music choices were odd to me but we liked a lot of it. Be prepared for some foul language though with some of the songs. I've attached a lot of photos of the music choices via Shazam screenshots.

When we asked if they could accommodate a vegetarian, they very apologetically informed us that they couldn't, as the menu was a fixed menu. Instead, they walked us up the street to a neighboring restaurant that they recomendad, and invited us to come back for drinks later. When we arrived, they were full, but instead of turning us away they pulled a table into the entryway for us. The waiter was in the middle of pouring shots for everyone in the restaurant, and proceeded to give a toast. They brought us a pitcher of sangria, as well as a delicious brownie with ice cream, which they refused to let us pay for at the end of the night. The entire night felt like a party, with each of the customers being treated like honored guests. Truly one of our most magical nights in Portugal.

If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.
Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Chama Porto at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Chama Porto page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FulfilledThread16, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FulfilledThread16 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FulfilledThread16 for any questions Peter may have as FulfilledThread16 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FulfilledThread16 now uses their connections at Chama Porto to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FulfilledThread16 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FulfilledThread16 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FulfilledThread16's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Chama Porto!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
