Blue Marlin Ibiza Eivissa Reviews
Don’t go for lunch or dinner
Do not go there for lunch or dinner. The food is low quality and totally overpriced. Service is not attentive and is changing all the time. They try to sell the most expensive dishes. When we paid we found charges for wine we never consumed. A bad experience.
Had a better experience before..
This place isn’t cheap so check prior to booking. I can’t fault the food selection, always had lovely food here and good for big groups to pick at. I’ve been here 6/7 years ago and the atmosphere was completely different. Little bit disappointed the DJs music wasn’t playing outside near the beach beds this time around but the scenery was beautiful. Bed service stops at 8pm (service charge not included), we then moved inside to the DJ. This place has a mixture of people of all ages. So don’t feel out of place, can be posey but it’s expected if you come to a beach club. My advice before you go - review the minimum charges, event on the day, drink / food menus prior to get a idea of what you’re spending and you’ll need to organise a taxi to pick you up otherwise you’ll be waiting HOURS when it closes unless you want to get in some strangers car offering you a lift for top dollar. Find a genuine taxi, get their number and make prior arrangements. This place is in the middle of nowhere hence not a lot of “normal” taxis come like usual clubs.
A liitle more commonsense would be nice.
Never a bad day at Blue Marlin. Slighly tedious money grabbing approach, eg. the unused €1200 on the sun beds wasn't transferred to the lunch table, so we kept going back to the sun beds to order drinks for the table...thats a farce and this place should be bettrer than that. Same again with the drinks for the club table..c'mon guys you don't need to be so petty, it spoils the mood.
Tourist trap
This place is a tourist trap. Stay away. Rude staff and terrible service. There is a reason they take $125 euro deposit. Because they know you will leave as soon as you walk in. After sitting for 30 minutes the waitress Nadia finally comes to take our order and she finally brings our drinks. Well the drinks were sugar and water and no alcohol. I asked the waitress to come over and she says one minute. 10 minutes later I ask her to bring me a wine instead and she says no no, you will get another aperol spritz. Ha! Never been spoken to in this way. Restaurant is way overhyped and over priced for very average food. We came here for the vibe and there is NO vibe. Go to calabassa as the service and food is so much better.
No music…
Very average, food was good, drink grossly overpriced. I had a great time because I had great company but we could have had the same time anywhere. I’d been told they’d lost their music license, so I called the week before to check, they told me they hadn’t. When we arrived there was no music because… you guessed it, they’ve got no license to play music on the beach in the day.
Perfect recovery day
We came here for a beach day, we were expecting it to be loud but was very chill and peaceful - perfect for a recovery day! Easy access to the sea and the food was good.
So disappointed
Waiters were rude. They smashed a tray of glasses over my friend and didn’t apologise. They wouldn’t let us split the bill between us all. They were obnoxious and acted as though we were inconveniencing them. The music was terrible, too heavy. Once we finished lunch we tried to enjoy ourselves in the bar area but unless you are dropping €1000’s on a vip bed they treat you like garbage!!
Our bill was wrong and it wasn’t the first time
Second time at blue marlin, second time our bill was wrong. It contained food and drinks never ordered for a not insignificant amount. The first time we thought it was a coincidence, but the second time it happened first to the two girls next to us, after which we found another €70 worth of drinks that weren't ours in our account. To apologise, the waiter Pedro gave the two girls a small souvenir of the club, my partner and I had to settle for a handshake from Pedro and an "excuse me, I'm an honest person". Could this also be a coincidence?
Much better places for less money
We had a table booked for 5 people and had paid a €25 deposit each, but when we arrived our table was not ready and had to be cleaned and set up which left us waiting for around 15mins. The drink and food prices are extortionate, even when compared to some of the other expensive beach clubs in the area. The food quality was not great. There were a lot of people joining tables and standing around in the restaurant area who kept knocking into our table and us when we were eating. The service was not particularly fast. Would go elsewhere next time.
not the same place it used to be
Beautiful location, and this used to be a great "beach club" 5+ years ago, but its not the same anymore. There is no music at all for the entire day, on the beach area, no atmosphere like there used to be, very quiet and chilled. I was told something about they can't play music loud anymore because it upsets the wildlife but I don't believe this as other places had music on the beach. They have also built large 15 foot high glass partitioning across the whole width of the bar area, which blocks out any music and noise from the DJ, to the sunbeds, beach area. Its a shame as this used to be a really fun place to go for the day. The food is ok, but very over priced, compared to other nice beach clubs. Drinks are also double the price of other beach clubs in the area that are offering a better overall product. Much of the crowd there remind me of these social media influencers you see nowadays. As usual no taxis outside like you get at other beach clubs in Ibiza (unless one arrives that is dropping someone off), just illegal taxis charging you a fortune to get back to your hotel.
Mid season licensing changes affected the music ambiance accompaniment… but the food and service was excellent
Reserved a beach bed for the day. We had amazing weather and the service here was great. Slightly disappointed about the lack of music…. new licensing laws came in mid summer season which meant that the music/dj sets that usually create the beach vibe ambience here started much later in the day at gone 4.30pm and we’re not of the usual standard you’d expect due to the new restrictions. That said, the good drink and service was exceptional even though the he music was lacking.
Save your money and go somewhere else
Wish I had read some of the reviews before going. Staff very rude which ruined the atmosphere. Made to feel unwelcome. Food was nice but everything extremely expensive and I’m not sure I got the hype.
Waste of money - do NOT recommend!!!
Food was very average, fish was fresh but the tuna used in the maki tasted like it came from a can. Sashimi pieces were cut way to thick. The service level was very low. We weren't assigned a waitor, while there was a lot of waitors hanging around, none gave attention to the guests even though restaurant only had 7 tables to look after. I ordered a gin gimlet, but they didnt have that and didnt offer an attempt (3 very simple ingredients all bars should have) Wasn't asked once if we wanted to order main course so after a dissapointing starter and bad service we decided to leave. After a bad experience we receive a very large bill, so obviously left with an even worse taste in our mouthes. And to top it off, the hostess was fooling around taking helium with another member of staff while we were waiting for our taxi - which never arrived, so had one of “their private taxis” to take us back to Ibiza town for 50€ compared to a normal taxi which would be 20€… Will not recommend which is a shame cause the venue looks amazing.
Good for a chilled beach day but average food and service
Stunning venue, super vibes and atmosphere. Food merely average and service was okay.. Given it’s towards the closing of the season and the venue wasn’t full, we expected the service to be top notch. Waiter was mostly attentive just a few times we had to chase him down and follow up for missing drinks, food and change of plates as one given was dirty. Overall, a lovely chilled day. Shame you can’t hear the dj on the beds at the beach but still love the venue.
How is it still in business??
My wife first came to Blue Marlin about a decade ago and loved it Group of us came here tonight quite excited - I’m a big Tripadvisor user and god knows why I’d not checked recent reviews as we’d have run a mile Soooo disappointed Service was abysmal Sat out on edge of beach for dinner in almost complete darkness After asking for a remedy, two candles offered - used phone torches to read menu and view the food Chilly - no blankets available Initially served one round of drinks, didn’t ask if we wanted wine or another round etc - must be making so much money they clearly couldn’t give a toss The 3 men in our party ordered starters and mains, ladies just mains Our starters and the girl’s mains came out together?? The girls then just sat there whilst we had our subsequent main courses. Just weird To be fair food quality was alright Steak tartar nice but meagre, likewise the risotto Two burgers were cold Lobster spaghetti dishes were again small but tasty although pasta was too al dente Did complain about the burgers and got an “oh” 679 euros for 2 rounds of drinks, 3 starters, 6 mains, 3 coffees Daylight (well pitch black) robbery It’s not the cost - we spend a lot of money travelling and eating. Yesterday we spent 2 grand at Aiyannas and would go back there in a heartbeat, likewise Chezz Gerdi - Blue Marlin could do well to take a leaf from their books on how to VALUE and RESPECT their customers - but I suspect they’re raking in so much dosh they could give a monkeys, that’s said, given the awful ratings on here, for how much longer?
Shocking service and no music
Disappointed with blue marlin. Failed to mention they lost their music license, staff continued to lie to us when we were asking about when the event amazona will start- told us at 4 then at 5 then 6 etc. staff were not attentive , rolling eyes , knocking drinks over and failing to replace them. When speaking to other customers next to us on the sun loungers, group of 10- they were all there for the same event also disappointed . Would never have booked if we knew that we would be paying hundreds to lie on a beach with no view , no music and not able to even go in the water . Do not go.
A big disillusion…
One big disillusion, a beautiful beach club, after all this year’s - yet today poorly managed, no music during the day, no smiles, a small menu, with overrated prices, arrogant service telling you to wait to go to the beach, after which you’re left on your own, an access to the water which is a water slide and is dangerous - what a shame in comparison to the beach club just next door, offering the opposite!
Great place! Food was delicious! There is a $25 deposit per
Great place! Food was delicious! There is a $25 deposit per person. Loved the ambience and decor in the restaurant! We had a reservation for 10pm (recommended!!) and the DJ stopped playing outside at 11pm :( so go earlier for music! Did turn into a nightclub inside at 11pm. Also during the day they have day beds for the beach! Would def go for the beach club next time I go. Gave three stars because the taxi line was annoying and expensive but expected
Booked a big bed, which as of summer 2023 is €100 +
Booked a big bed, which as of summer 2023 is €100 + €500 minimum spend. That price includes some water and a small fruit bowl, but not the towel fee, lol! Yes, it's pricey but honestly most Ibiza beach clubs are. Blue Marlin is a great looking beach club, beautiful sea views and interesting people watching. We thought the food was very good. The sashimi platter was delicious and some of the best sashimi we've ever had. The lobster sandwich was excellent, and the prawn tempura was nice and crispy. Cocktails were yummy - the frozen ones are fresh blended, not machine mixes. And importantly, the service was friendly and helpful. Sometimes, service in these clubs can be dependent on how big a tip the servers anticipate you giving (e.g., did you arrive at the club from your yacht?) but that wasn't the case here. We spent over 7 hours at Blue Marlin, relaxing, eating and drinking. Definitely left feeling it was worth it, particularly compared to how much VIP costs at day clubs like Ushuaia.
Good
Cool place , great party and good service. We went to spend the day there and enjoyed it a lot. It’s on the more expensive side but worth it
Has Lost Its Way
The setting is still beautiful, the staff are still charming but the crowd has changed, along with the music. I guess nothing can stay the same forever.
The service and rude staff spoils what could be a great place
I came here for the day with my friend, we hired x2 sun beds prior to coming. We arrived at 2pm and ordered drinks with an allocated waiter, after ordering the first drinks we never saw him again. We had to chase staff to ask to order a drink to be told our waiter would come and take our order, he had a bad attitude and only came after various attempts to get his attention. They only seemed interested in large groups spending crazy amounts of money!!!! To top it off we paid the bill and asked them to book us a taxi, they had a rude attitude and looked at us like we were from another planet. We got out the front and there was a queue for taxis and we saw none for an hour- if you come here pre book taxis otherwise you will be stuck for hours!! We got so desperate to leave we nearly ended up clubbing together with a group of strangers just to get out of there, all of this really spoilt what could have been a lovely day.
Great venue and location but let down by the very expensive menu!
This is the most amazing place and it's on a private stretch of the beach with stunning views. The menu is basic but very expensive. Wagyu Burger for 66 Euros! We had a meal for 6 with drinks, and it was close to 1000 euros for drinks and mains. The music was excellent, but it's let down by the menu! We all eat out regularly and all found this to be very expensive for what we had!
Won't be rushing back
Visited here for dinner in September 2022. We were running 20 mins late but they held our table for us. Had to wait about 5 mins at reception after arriving. We were seated at a table of 4 and given menus. The waiter then took a long time to come back to our table to take our order. 2 drinks arrived then our food arrived and then the other 2 drinks eventually arrived half way through our meal. I had the truffle pasta which was pretty bland and I thought over priced for what it was. No one came over to our table to check everything was ok and when we wanted to order more drinks it was hard to find someone to take our order, waiting staff obviously saw us trying to get there attention but chose to ignore!! We stayed on for drinks after with the DJ playing and then thought we would leave around 11.30pm knowing that the venue closed at 12 and thought it may be harder to get a taxi then. The taxi queue was already pretty long and by 1230 only about 4 taxis had arrived so we were still quite far back in the queue. We then decided to follow suit with most other people and go in a 'private taxi' the guy that offered this service then found another 2 people in the queue as they would not take the 4 of us to San An bay, so we shared the taxi with another 2 Randoms, wasn't keen to do this but with hardly any taxi's arriving and after queuing for over an hour it seemed like the best option! Defo recommend pre-booking a taxi if you do decide to go here! The taxi was abit more expensive then we paid gong there
Awful service
This place looks lovely in pictures. Unfortunately the extremely poor service let’s this place down. To get a drink you have to run after the staff to be told you have to order with your waiter who is nowhere to be seen. Pleasant reception staff and when drinks did eventually arrive they were nice. Also down point - no pool / access to the sea to cool off. It was boiling hot with no shade. No regular taxis either - you could be waiting 2 hours trying to get home.
