Barnwood Grill Yorktown Heights Reviews from The Last Year
This was an unexpected hidden gem we found on a long trek
This was an unexpected hidden gem we found on a long trek from Boston, and it definitely hit the spot! Nice rustic space with an elevated farmhouse vibe, very friendly and quick service, and tasty food. We had the butternut squash ravioli and kobe burger with a couple beers to wash it down. The butternut squash ravioli had a great pasta wrapper to squash ratio that was clearly homemade, and the creamy truffle sauce was balanced and not overpowering. The walnuts on top added a nice texture and nuttiness. The kobe burger was cooked a perfect medium and the truffle fries were seasoned well. We came around 4pm so we were also delighted to see we got a happy hour deal on our beers. Would return again when making the long trek from Boston.
Tonight is my one year wedding anniversary and we wanted to
Tonight is my one year wedding anniversary and we wanted to try a new restaurant. The atmosphere was very nice and the bus boys and girls were very attentive to us. Our waiter only came once to take our order and that was it. The food runner or bus boy delivered our meals and refilled our waters. Our waiter never came to ask us how our food was. When we finished our meal the bus boy came and took our dishes away and we flagged down our waiter and asked for the check. The same bus boy delivered our check. If it wasn't for that bus boy which I wish I got his name, we would have been upset at the service. On to the food. My husband ordered the salmon and it was decent. I ordered the lobster ravioli and I have to say I was disappointed. When seeing handmade lobster ravioli I was expecting a light and fluffy fresh pasta dough filled with lush lobster meat and fresh cheeses. All I got was thick undercooked not even aldente pasta dough and when I cut into the ravioli all the filling pushed out. I didn't get not a single piece of lobster meat in my $29 dinner either. If we decide to go back it will be for that bus boys service and to also try something else off the menu. I am not sure if the waiters share tips but we decided the bus boy was worthy of his own tip handed to him directly. He needs to be promoted to waiter asap and you will definitely have a returning customer.
Party of 8 on a Monday evening.
Got seated right away and waiter took our orders promptly. Everyone enjoyed their drinks/meals.
Disastrous Mother's Day dinner.
Bad/overpriced food/service (shared with restaurant, received no response): Issues with visit (ordered three 3-course meals): - crab squid ink pasta - they mixed in salmon with the crab (presumably either because they were running out of crab meat or to save money, but menu had no mention of salmon and gave the dish an odd fishy taste), the cream sauce had the consistency of water - they told my wife that there was no crème brûlée, yet we overheard another table order after us and get it - we had to wait over 15 minutes between mains being taken away and dessert being served (and saw several tables around us served dessert and coffee within that time frame) - we replaced crème brûlée order with cheesecake and got 1/4 inch slices of cake with hot/melted whipped cream Prices looked reasonable based on menu description, but food served fell far short of those descriptions.
Bad experience

A group of 4 for a casual family dinner.
Beautiful place with tables spaced to allow for conversation. Opened with appetizers like calamari and salads. We had burgers and they were cooked as ordered. Help was pleasant and well trained. Had the apple tart with ice cream for desert.
Good food and atmosphere.
Pub fare plus. Separate bar and restaurant rooms. Very convenient if you live in Somers.
Treated dismissively by host which felt sexist.
Food was good. Service fair. We're seniors and felt our business was unwelcome.
1st visit to Barnwood Grill.
Bar area was very crowded and very loud, difficult to talk. 6 of us sat on small round table better suited for 4 or maybe 5 guests. Service was very good and attentive. Food was Good to Very Good. Very crowded so not suited for intimate dinners. Interesting variety of choices, especially appetizers. Steaks were very good and served in an Elegant style. Worth a visit.

This is a wonderful restaurant where you are treated so well. The food is always delicious and the drinks are top notch. The staff is fantastic.
Had my daughter's bridal shower for 45 people.
Management made the event run smoothly. The staff was very attentive. The food was delicious. I highly recommend this venue for any event.
Poor service.
Ok food. Nothing special really. Convenient if you need a local meal out on a school night.
This place was awesome.
We sat by the bar, which had string lighting. Cool vibes! It was on the louder side but we could still talk. They had a seasonal specials menu, which was different. We order Easter drinks. For my meal I got the rigatoni. I was nervous because I don't love a meat sauce but omg it was good. I wish I had more after I was done. The flavoring and the cheese were delicious. Our server was also very nice. At times it seemed like he was rushing us but the place was very busy so we understood. Definitely recommend!

Been here for sever group dinners over years, Food is always great, as well as service. Always packed, bar is very nice too. Great drinks and bartenders.
So happy we finally tried Barnwood.
The restaurant was very cozy and welcoming. The staff was also very attentive. We tried a number of dishes that were all delicious. The calamari had a very tasty chili sauce, along with fried peppers mixed into the calamari. The Chilean sea bass special was seasoned and cooked well, with a slight crisp on the outside, and a pretty presentation. The barnwood chicken was tender and crisp, however, I wish there were mushrooms with the mushroom bourbon sauce. The kids meals had fresh-cut fries and included a dessert. One of my children did not have a meal, but they still brought him out an ice cream which was very nice. Overall excellent service and food!

Apps are awesome and the afternoon/evenings are great for diner. The award winning pear martini is deliciously dangerous.
Best New Year's Eve Food in 40 Years
We have been spending New Year's Eve with friends for some 40 years and on most occasions if a decision is made to dine outside one of our homes, we have been disappointed with inferior food, exorbitant prices and poor service. Barnwood Grill has broken that cycle. Our dinner was exceptional, wait staff courteous and friendly, service impeccable. The pappardelle was the best ever; my wife's ribs melted off the bone, a steak was wonderful and a fish dish out of this world. The calamari appetizer was fresh and crispy and desert refreshing. As the late Yogi Berra would have noted: "Barnwood Grill--you done good!" Highly recommend the establishment for future holiday plans and everyday dining.
