Taste Bud Magnificence
The food magicians have been casting wonderful spells at this place. Add to this some Chicago cool from Niki who hit every top note in terms of service and charm and youโre wondering why you ever left this place. Sensational.
10/10 a must visit in Queenstown
Amisfield is hands down my favourite place in Queenstown, I make time to visit every single trip and it never disappoints. The degustation menu isnโt just a meal itโs a full experience. Yes, itโs a splurge, but every bite is worth it. The presentation is stunning and the flavours are superb. It truly feels like a culinary show, with surprises at every course. The wine tasting is also a great experience, with a wonderful array of varietals. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Bonus: itโs super accessible, you can catch a bus direct from Queenstown. Amisfield is pure magic. If youโre in Queenstown it's a must visit! one of those places that stays with you long after the last sip.
Trouble in the kitchen
Was really exciting about return to Amisfield, have been frequenting this fine establishment for years, but not recently, at $240 pp without wine, it was a disappointing culinary experience, food was over curated and complicated, the emphasis was on the presentation (dry ice, fish heads and antlers) rather than the actual eating and pleasure in that simple act. Way too over complicated theatrical nonsense.
Beyond Michelin stars
Fastidious attention to detail makes this menu astonishing. Extraordinary, unpredictable and theatrical. For us, no amount of Michelin stars would have done it justice. Itโs an exquisite celebration of local produce, creatively and lovingly presented. And of course the Amisfield wines are some of the best in the world. Try the botrytis with desert. Chef Vaughan-take a bow.
Not a steak to be seen
Most delicious succession of food, slightly confronting with the presentation , which made you think, most enjoyable dining experience, and did not walk away wanting
Challenging
I've thought a lot about start to write about this experience. First up, this isn't a restaurant. This is to restaurants what a fashion show is to a retail store, what F1 is to driving a Toyota corolla. About 24 courses into a 28 course meal I found myself saying out loud this needs to be frikkin over. Only I didn't use frikkin. I'd estimate about 60% of the food was delicious. The rest was challenging. Not unpleasant, but at the same time I'm not sure entirely pleasant. Do I like a broth that tastes like all the world's crayfish lived in it? Do I like a duck's foot? Do I like duck liver parfait ice cream? I ate them and still don't know. I'm glad we ate here, but it's not an experience I'd be rushing back to. I think (or hope) the chef Vaughan designed it to be challenging, and it worked. At times I thought the choice of serving 28 courses was a commentary on customers being hedons. If the evening had turned into the movie The Menu I probably wouldn't have been surprised. As someone who thinks they are well travelled and a "foodie" he certainly put me in my place with the unbelievable creations, and often madness, placed in front of us. If you're not prepared to be challenged, confused and exhausted, you probably should not go.
The Most Memorable Dining Experience of My Life!
Wow! This may be the most memorable meal I have ever had in my 60 years of traveling and dining out often! I was solo traveling and unsure about booking this restaurant, thinking I might feel uncomfortable dining at such a long and extravagant meal by myself. But boy am I glad I did! While this restaurant is certainly fine dining, the entire staff is so approachable and welcoming. I did not feel awkward at all. The presentation of every single dish was so creative and mind blowing. You just canโt stop taking pictures of every single detail. But what most surprised me most was that the taste of each dish was spectacular. The sauces, the blending of flavors and execution of each dish was flawless. I have been to tasting restaurants where they present a beautiful artistic show but the actual food somehow falls short in comparison. This was a masterpiece for all of your senses and well worth the price tag! If you are coming to the Queenstown area, please do yourself a favor and book in advance for this outstanding experience!
Was just Meh in comparison to Michelin Star restos
While the experience was good, for the price point it was extortionate when comparing to any other Michelin Star restaurant in recent times (The Pass, Fat Duck, Sorrel, Dinner, Manรญ. Etc.). The food was pretty unforgettable, portion sizes despite it being lunch were tiny (could have gone for a cheeseburger at Ferg afterwards). More pomp than anything else and seems to cater to tourists for the price point. We visit NZ on a yearly basis including Amisfield but reckon we will give this a miss on our โyearly NZโ experiences. There are far better restaurants for value. A pity to be honestโฆ
Exquisite food but over the top 'experience'
Main piece of advice โ book early for the lunch. You will get the dining โexperienceโ for half the time and price. We left it too late and since we didnโt have much time, decided to go for the evening meal. The food was exquisite, and the service excellent. But the 16-17 courses/items listed on my menu were too much, and after more than 3 hours we were, quite frankly, a little bored with the performativity of it all. The lunch would have satisfied us, but we are locals and aware of other fine dining options which donโt market themselves in this way. Amisfield wines donโt have the reputation of its food. But good on the chef and his staff for gaining international accolades and catering to a particular visitor niche.
Blown away! We were here for our 20 year wedding anniversary and everything was perfect.
Started with our complimentary wine tasting with the amazing Abi at the cellar door. She was very welcoming and looked after us soo well. Moved into the beautiful restaurant for lunch with another amazing group of people to make our experience special. The inside restaurant area was beautifully presented and comfortable. Greta was our super star who delivered our food with a smile and elegance. Ahh, the food! Every single mouthful was delicious. There were tears, it was soo good. The baby paua was my wifeโs favourite. Mine was the venison with a crayfish bisque. Whitebait, kawakawa , eel on vogels and blue cod - amazing ingredients, locally sourced!! So clever, so imaginative, so entertaining. Our sommeliers were excellent, knowledgeable and an absolute pleasure serving perfect wine pairings. I know Iโm gushing but it was seriously one of the best restaurant experiences my wife and I have ever had, and we eat out a lot!! Off to get another tissue. Thank you Amisfield!
Awesome experience with the food quality; presentation and

The dining experience here was exceptional! A 19 course
The dining experience here was exceptional! A 19 course meal with every single dish so creatively and well made! The service here is also really good, as they wait till everyone is seated before every dish is brought out for the full experience. The environment is very simple but super elegant! Loved my experience here so much!
Ok so we arrived without a booking but were told we could
Ok so we arrived without a booking but were told we could get bar food . Had a wine tasting ( which was excellent) and then were told that despite a room full of empty tables and no booking facility , they didn't have capacity . We were just dressed in jeans and tee shirts so if you are really keen to go there, which I don't recommend , dress for success . Very very disappointed to travel out from Queenstown on a friend's recommendation to be so bluntly snubbed .
